Fact: Canada's GDP grew 0.8% in Q2 - it is only going to be 3.3% annual growth if the next 9 months continues to compound a the same rate as Q2 -
Not going to happen given Stats Can's initial forecast for July is 0.0% growth

They told Canadians GDP grew 3.3% in Q2.

It didn’t.

GDP grew 0.8% in Q2.

The 3.3% figure is the annualized rate.

They multiplied 0.8% x 4. 😂

They have yet to issue a correction.

@jmbprime Absolutely false. No citations either, neither of these banks have made these claims and on the contrary. MC has been disaster and has literally done nothing to increase investor confidence, nor increase GDP productivity. Go check out the OECD forecast on Canada.

All three banks + Bank of Canada forecast growth under 1% in 2026 - and none forecast that Canada will even hit a mediocre 2% real growth in 2027. All cite trade as a risk NOT driving growth and none says "infrastructure investments" will start helping economic growth before 2027.
