CBC’s At Issue just spent a full segment lecturing Alberta — nationalists and separatists — with a panel of zero Albertans.
Chantal Hébert (Montreal), Andrew Coyne (Toronto), Althia Raj (Ottawa), and a BC guest, Rob Shaw from Nanaimo. And as Don Martin put it on Monday: “Toronto Globe, Ottawa-based TorStar and Montreal voices with a guest B.C. radio guest and not even a token Albertan.”
Coyne called the separatist faction inside the UCP a “cancer on the party” and framed Smith’s comments as the start of a “purge.” Hébert helpfully informed everyone: “I can’t speak for Alberta, but they are a long way from getting anywhere close to where Quebec is on this.” Notice the “they.” Always “they.”
Quebec gets two sovereignty referendums, a federal party dedicated to breaking up the country, and decades of careful, respectful coverage about “distinct society” and legitimate grievances. Alberta gets Eastern commentators explaining that 75% voting to remain just proves the whole exercise was pointless theatre, that the rest of their anger is mostly irrational or party-management, and that the proper response is for the Premier to clean house so Ottawa can move on
Raj called it a “huge win for the prime minister” and “vindication” of the strategy. Shaw helpfully noted that Western alienation is “the fuel behind the separation fire” while suggesting Alberta might get something like Quebec’s 1991 immigration accord — as if the double standard isn’t the entire point
This is the same tone-deaf Laurentian routine: acknowledge the grievances, then reframe them as failure to understand cooperative federalism, a Premier saving her job, or an issue a referendum can’t settle. Then thank Albertans for the resource wealth and tax dollars that fund the $1.5 billion CBC operation doing the lecturing
If this panel had spent 10 minutes talking about Quebec the way they just talked about Alberta, Chantal would have been stutteringly apoplectic. Instead we got four outsiders explaining Alberta to itself with dripping condescension and not a single Albertan in the room
Yet another absolute CBC shitshow... on your dime! @brodiefenlon@carter_c@DonMartinCTV
“A LEAKED DOCUMENT REVEALS HOW FAR CARNEY WANTS TO GO WITH THE EU.
Digital IDs. Artificial intelligence. Your personal information. Pandemic surveillance. Even the rules governing Canadian businesses.
This isn’t speculation.
A draft Canada–EU joint statement, dated September 22, 2026, was circulated to European officials ahead of the October 29–30 summit in Montreal.
The document was obtained by POLITICO and subsequently reported on by The Canadian Press on October 15. The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms has also raised concerns about its implications for Canadian sovereignty.
Here’s what’s being discussed:
🇨🇦 Digital identity: Making Canadian and European digital identification systems compatible.
Artificial intelligence: Aligning AI regulations and standards.
Personal information: Facilitating cross-border data transfers.
Pandemic preparedness: Expanding disease surveillance and emergency-response cooperation.
Government regulation: Joint discussions on major policies and regulations before they’re introduced.
That last point should concern every Canadian.
Why should European officials be involved in discussions about Canadian regulations before Canadians even see them?”
Oh, NOW they’re a problem? 😂 You spent all that time giving them oxygen, and now you’re surprised the fire got out of control? Nobody should be buying this sudden change of heart.
Prime Minister, beyond the Iranian regime lies the strategic challenge of Erdoğan’s Türkiye.
From Beijing to Doha, and now Ankara, your “strategic partnerships” read like corporate-Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who turned to Castro and Mao, a search for some middle path between the West and the Kremlin.
It was a costly mistake then. It remains one now.

David Krayden issues a warning to Canadians:
If Canada doesn't change course and doesn't break out of the Carney Liberal elbows up trance, there won't be anything left to save.

@GasPriceWizard I see it as a Catch 22 situation.
This would stop importing from the USA, which would be a win for the government, but then it would require changing the clean fuel regulations which would be a lose for them.
Either way I am for less Ethanol.
That would violoate the Liberal carbon tax 2.0 - the clean fuel regulation
Boomers love it so they can instead tool around in their appliance on wheels
Well this is interesting @GasPriceWizard!
By my @grok assisted calculations, we could reduce ethanol percentage in Canadian gas to below 5% if we only used Canadian produced ethanol.
We are not big fans of ethanol but up to 5% is max acceptable for good engine performance.
Over the next five years, Mark Carney will borrow $733B and deficits will add up to $333B.
That's over $400m borrowed every single day.
The debt Canada actually borrows and pays interest on jumps from 49% to 59% of GDP.
The headline deficit is the number you see.
The borrowing is the number you pay for.
What fascinates me about the immigration debate in Canada is the lack of outrage from the 'Left'. The results are in; the evidence is clear. The policy was extremely regressive.
Corporations Won; Workers Lost.
Unions, Academics, Students, Commies. Where are you? Are you not vexed that this government is set to put Workers through the meat grinder again?
