Absent sweeping reform, this is the whole world in ten years. Remember: both parties in the US defend mass surveillance programs. China's "advantage" here is not technological, but that there's no strong civil opposition to slow the descent into nightmare. https://t.co/uhcrcRpMLL
@USAmbDenmark Pot calling the kettle black. What do you suppose the exabyte-level datacenter in Utah is about? https://t.co/6S046GQ9UT #privacy#Hypocrisy
Danish Minister of Justice arguing that more surveillance = more freedom. #dkpol, #dkmedier please do something quick, it's starting to stink in there!
"“we’re very alarmed,” he said. “It sort of trains the next generation that [surveillance] is normal, that it’s not an issue. What is the next generation’s Mark Zuckerberg going to think is normal?""
@mainframed767 This is my pet peeve. Computers are millions of times faster now but my workflow has not improved much in speed since the late 80s(!). I had Lotus Symphony spreadsheets, Ventura Publisher (WYSIWYG), Word Perfect on DOS. 20MB harddisk on PC-XT. Oh and it loaded faster than now..
@kevdogtweets @todb I would say a better and even more rational strategy would be to do more research. Defending yourself in a court or using the internet without VPN are both very bad ideas unless you know exactly what you are doing and most people don't.
@todb This does nothing for privacy in relation to governments and your endpoint is stuck in a single country. Why do you think end-users can build a better encryption solution than VPN companies can? Your statement is akin to "Don't hire a lawyer, you're better off defending yourself"
Chinese citizens now have to have their faces scanned when registering new mobile phone services: this builds an unreliable, pervasive, and unnecessary technology on top of an unnecessary and exclusionary SIM card registration policy.

According to a new declassified ruling from the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), FBI personnel systematically abused National Security Agency (#NSA) mass surveillance data in both 2017 and 2018. https://t.co/xLuTywUAKd
Those upset about #MemoDay should consider regardless of what the FBI does or doesn't put into an application, FISA warrants have had a 99.97% chance of being granted over 33 years. https://t.co/orxgSDXDHL

.@SenMarkey asked Ring how it protects the privacy of those filmed by the company's doorbell cameras.
Their answer?
Basically, they don't. https://t.co/y4uuuq29jD
Day 5 of Internet blackout in Iran. By shutting down the Internet, the clerical establishment is punishing millions of Iranians inside and outside the country. #Internet4Iran#KeepItOn
Today’s collapse of Sweden’s #Assange investigation was inevitable. Given its gross arbitrariness, there must now be a full investigation, and accountability & compensation for the harm inflicted on #JulianAssange
While the world knows Julian's name has been cleared in Sweden, he is sitting in a cell in Belmarsh prison, probably unaware of the news. The Prison cancelled all visits today.
Don´t Extradite Assange!
