@RisingJay @placed_onto @frequency529 True, but an employment gap is going to be an issue regardless. I'm thinking of the mentality they're bringing to the interview. It's gonna come across if they view the job as beneath them because of their education and nobody wanna work with someone like that. Rather start fresh
@placed_onto @frequency529 I agree it's mostly #3, and the simple solution is to only list relevant experience for the job. They don't need to go on about their advanced degrees if that's what's holding them back. But their pride prevents them from accepting that.
@Steggy_Dinosaur@BretDevereaux It's impossible to overstate how the Bush Doctrine and lack of serious repercussions for invading Iraq undermined the very concept of international law. Putin has even cited it as justification for invading Ukraine. But in the US we like to pretend the Iraq war never happened.
@SocialistMMA The first sentence is bait because people who question it will be dismissed. It's the second sentence that's insidious. It's not because of American intervention that the world is more peaceful, but in spite of it.
@AccountableDeep@DavidDeutschOxf@crostipunctus@PhlsphrKng@mattwridley Dismissing famine because of "narrative" is wild. The Japanese Internment camps in the US were not part of the US WW2 "narrative" until decades later. Doesn't mean I think FDR is an evil monster, but having basic empathy means understanding why a Japanese American might think so.
@philthatremains@SmokeyMcpot7681@prochoicewoman7 How so? As soon as I asked a difficult question, every response avoids actually answering the question. Seems like you only want to address this issue when you can somehow imply it's just a matter of women being irresponsible.
@philthatremains@prochoicewoman7 Okay, so a young child who has been raped will need to get an abortion within 13 weeks, after that point they will have to carry a baby to term, even if it results in their own death?
@19steve77@half0@philthatremains@prochoicewoman7 You seem like a pretty reasonable dude even if we have different positions. My problem with @philthatremains post is that he seems more interested in in virtue signalling with provocative posts than engaging in a reasonable debate about an important issue. Happy 2 be proven wrong
@half0@19steve77@philthatremains@prochoicewoman7 I agree, so when @philthatremains posts “i wanna to be able to legally kill a human and no one should have anything to say about it”, it's ironic that he is avoids clearly stating his stance on cases of rape and the life of the mother.
@philthatremains@prochoicewoman7 Phil, do you believe a young child who becomes pregnant because she was raped should have to carry their rapists child to term, even if she is so young that they may die in the process?
