One of things that's most evident to me about the modern age is that in overthrowing the monarchy/warrior aristocracy, Europeans unwittingly committed a kind of spiritual patricide and fundamentally disrupted the complementary spiritual hierarchy that has always characterized Indo-European civilization.

The highest castes were always the priestly and the martial, side by side. This is because they are complimentary, masculine and feminine spiritual energies given physical instantiation in social form. When a culture is dominated by the feminine priestly caste exclusively (as in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Levant, and many tribal groups), you get a very collectivist and subdued society, impotent and subject to every kind of parasitical and priestly predation. This is the situation in our modern society, though the nature of the priestly class in our time is not what it once was (medical professionals, legal clerics and judges, academic/media/science class). The temples now where we must sacrifice are NGO's, "charities", government bureaucracies for nanny states, etc. The tithes of our time, labor, and wealth are much more brutal now than ever they were when the priestly class was moderated by the martial aristocracy.

When society is dominated entirely by the masculine energy of the warrior caste, it becomes individualistic to an unhealthy point, where it's very difficult to unify for anything when needed. It also tends to unbridled imperial statism and exploitative industry, a different kind of tyranny. European societies have always functioned best and reached their highest orders when both castes are firmly in place and powerful because they temper each other's excesses and check their capacity for over-reach. There needs to be a salutary tension between the two, and a complementary service for the common good; without the other, it will be impossible for a martial class or a priestly class to remember that they exist for the welfare of their people and not for their own benefit.

It was the defining madness of the modern age to imagine we could have a high-functioning society with the dissolution of one or both of these power castes. There will always be one at the helm, no matter what kinds of robes or titles it wears, if they are not paired in a civilizational alchemical wedding with their counterpart.

Right is a house in Warsaw which was restored in 2020. Just recently.
