Had a blast celebrating 10 years of @CityYearDallas at “Sneaker Ball” — a night honoring the young leaders who serve in our public schools every day. It was especially meaningful recognizing my dear friend @GerberPam, along with @celanese, and The Honorable @VoteAdamMedrano, who brought @CityYear to Dallas 10 years ago!
City Year Dallas is an @AmeriCorps program that recruits and trains young mentors aged 18–25 to work directly with students in our local schools to boost literacy, math skills, attendance, and social-emotional learning. They’re more than tutors — they’re near-peer role models with a proven track record of helping reduce dropout risk among high school students.
City Year is a powerful example of how visionary partnership organizations can pioneer supplementary educational initiatives that transform public education outcomes. Grateful to have such dedicated partners supporting Dallas students — and shaping the next generation of civic leaders.
City Year Dallas Sneaker Ball Celebrating 10 Years of Impact.
A decade of service.🎖️
We recognized @VoteAdamMedrano and Pam Gerber last night for their 10 Years of Service to @CityYearDallas.
It’s hard to believe it has been 10 years. I can remember how excited you were to bring @CityYear to Dallas when you were first elected to office in 2013. 10 years strong and still making an impact.

Last night, Celanese was proud to be honored as the Corporate Honoree at @CityYear's Sneaker Ball! For over a decade, the Celanese Foundation has partnered with @CityYearDallas—sponsoring the launch of their Dallas chapter and supporting their mission through mentorship, volunteerism and giving. We’re inspired by the incredible work of City Year’s AmeriCorps members and grateful to walk alongside them in creating brighter futures for Dallas students.
#ChemistryOfUs #CelaneseCares #CommunityImpact
Celanese and our employees honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his important work through service projects across the U.S. For example, our Dallas BOLD ERG teamed up with @CityYearDallas to volunteer at H.S. Thompson Elementary School where they beautified the school grounds, built and painted picnic tables, and assembled care packages for teachers and students.
Let’s continue to help foster a sense of belonging, encouragement and hope for brighter futures while celebrating the transformative power of service to bring people together and drive meaningful change.

This Valentine's Day, we're sending a heartful of thanks to @CityYearDallas for pouring love into our community during the 2023 #HeartofTeaching! Special love to Heather Holland, Exec Director, former teacher, & @dallasschools alum, for leading with 💖 https://t.co/agUdEz673c
Dr. King often referenced the #belovedcommunity, a society where injustices cease, and love prevails. Our @AmeriCorps members and volunteers make this a day on, not off, to build upon this dream in their communities. #CYMLK
