An act of God, or just bad management? Why trees fall and how to prevent it. "Such descriptions obscure the role of good management in minimising the chance a tree will fall. The fact is, much can be done to prevent these events." https://t.co/108sm4s33X
@MicheleMchmsm88 @rockcenternyc Every year I wonder why they never planted a tree in front of Rockefeller Center a long time ago. I hate that they cut down a massive tree for a only a few weeks (and yes, I do love Christmas).
@arborday@rockcenternyc I understand and that's great, AFTER the cutting. But, as tree people, I'm sure you're aware of the importance of old growth trees. Better to use a sustainable tree farm or...PLANT one in the center.
“Even though urban areas are small compared to rural areas, the value of trees is more important because these trees are in more proximity to people.” New research shows that American cities are losing millions of trees each year 😢 https://t.co/aTz7ouaswo
The charred trunk of this Callery pear tree was rescued from the smoldering rubble of the World Trade Center site after the 2001 attacks and nursed back to life. Today, it lives on the #911Memorial as a living reminder of resilience, survival and rebirth. #SurvivorTree#ArborDay
For winter when the days grow short and spirits may run low
I'd plant a pine upon the scape
T'would lend a cheery glow.

Staking also weakens the root system of a #tree. Trees grow stronger simply by having to hold themselves up in the conditions! #TreeCare https://t.co/z4cBTxFDGP
