@DMac_thesecond@D00M42@NeilShenvi So you are saying CRT used guns to hijack or weaponize institutions. But if you mean they spoke under the protection of the state, that explains too much. All comers, including Christians, trads, etc. use guns, "hijack" and "weaponize" by that definition.
@DMac_thesecond@D00M42@NeilShenvi You've used words like hijack, weaponize, and force. I think you need to be clear. Did they use guns? Or did they use words? Or some third thing? Until you get clear on this, you wont persuade those who dont share your outlook.
@DMac_thesecond@D00M42@NeilShenvi "At best all you're advocating is the formation of a parallel society"
How do you think CRT got into legislation if not through the "parallel society" of academia, NGOs, Hollywood, etc? It's a bootstrapping problem on your part. Speech is a form of force apart from the state.
@DMac_thesecond@D00M42@NeilShenvi The category of "just expressing personal disagreement" is a false one. Speech also enforces norms. This is why you get boycotts, cancelations. These happen without the state and originate outside of formal institutions.
@NeilShenvi "The latter group may be safe from the insanity of the progressive left"
Begging to differ, they replicate the precise reasons we should reject the progressive left, ie., impugning motives, preferring force to persuasion, mobilizing into identitarian tribes.

@DMac_thesecond@D00M42@NeilShenvi Of course liberalism can, literally, oppose CRT and communism on its own terms. It can call those things illiberal. The pen is mightier than the sword, we all used to say.
There are literal Nazis dominating social media and revealing themselves in the church and people like Megan Basham are going to spend maybe 2 minutes of their time posting a rebuke and then go back to complaining about Russell Moore for 6 straight months.
And I mean "trashed" in two senses of the word:
- constantly depicting modern America as a wreck only Trump can fix, a global chump & a laughingstock (again unless fixed by Trump)
- actually making America worse: dumber, nastier, and, well, trashier
Vance has made "gratitude" or ingratitude, a huge part of his ongoing rhetoric. But it wont work well, because ultimately, people dont want a scolder-in-chief. Who really wants to live 24/7 under a guy who says "You aren't grateful enough" whenever he's challenged?
Vance: It doesn’t both me that Democrats disagree with our policies. It bothers me that they are just terrible people, so many of them. But what really does bother me is that they don't show gratitude for the United States. If you don't feel grateful to live here, what are you even doing being in public service. Too many Democrats don't show appreciation for the country
@eric_mcgilp@LucasBaumbach Country is different from nation. Country is land, but nation is from the Latin root word for birth, origin, or a race of people.
@AezzieUwU In other words, conservatives are not a monolith. Old school, free market conservatives aren't the same as the transgressive radtrads who post those 50's families dressed in their Sunday best.
The running joke is that when an American dad turns 40 he is offered the choice to either get really into WWII or really into the Civil War. Two wars that very famously ended with unconditional surrender! Absolute betrayal of The Dads
