Overwhelmed. Holding my new book in my hands for the first time. I wanted to help people understand how the dynamics all around us (including journalism, partisan media, politicians, social media) are working together to drive us apart, and that we hold the key to fix it.
We're hiring at the @UDBidenSchool's SNF Ithaca Initiative. This person will work closely with me and others as we develop the intiative for the @UDelaware commmunity but also as a hub for this work across the US. Reach out with questions! #SNFIthacaUD

@dannagal@adamdavidson Anthony Laden, in a book called @CivilityCrisis that was edited by @dannagal, @rgboatright3, @sobieraj, and me offers some language about the distinction. Also really find @robdanisch and William Keith's "Beyond Civility" helpful. Strong, weak, and pseudo civility.
@adamdavidson Yes. Meanwhile the people who study civility and democracy recognize civility itself is a problematic mandate if defined in terms of “politeness” over tolerance and human rights. It’s amazing what rights you can deny others while still being *polite*
@NICDInstitute's @KeithGAllred was a guest on #NCSLpodcasts and spoke about how our work of engaging differences constructively can lead to real decisions. Listen below!
NICD's Research Network published @CivilityCrisis to explore civil discourse from multiple perspectives. A review in the European Journal of Communication has this to say about the book by @rgboatright3, @timothyjshaffer, @sobieraj, and @dannagal!

@CivilityCrisis being cited as scholars continue to push what we even mean when we think about civility and incivility in political communication. In this article, it's literally the reference in the first line.
