@Tracy_Chevalier Managed to see Ammonite last night. Film of RC badly needed… If I hadn’t read the book I’d have known nothing of who Mary or Elizabeth were. I’m not questioning the “poetic licence” of making M a lesbian (or maybe I secretly am), if only they’d shown her work & her “times” more.
@Tracy_Chevalier After watching and enjoying The Dig, I wondered whether there ever was or ever will be a film version of Remarkable Creatures. It’s another story of untimely recognized geniuses.
@NASheridan @Olives_forum @CarlBovisNature Check out David Attenborough’s Life of Birds or Our Planet... They will open up a world of desirable (and enviable) males... 😁
@godschyld777 UR welcome! This is a female that appears every winter not far from where I live, just outside the city centre of Como, on a stream which comes from the hills and flows into the lake (covered in its last stretch). No idea where it breeds but I’d say it’s native, yes.
@Tracy_Chevalier I always loved it. It may have been painted after she had died. I also studied it in literature as an example of “mise en abyme”. A novel would be fitting...

@Tracy_Chevalier Mine was a copy of Rapahel’s Madonna with child, which my mother had painted and was hanging over my parents’ bed. Baby Jesus was so chubby that I became convinced it was my grandma, who, weighing over 100 kilos, had the same thickset legs 😂
@Tracy_Chevalier Thanks for replying so swiftly! I do hope you manage! Of course I’m curious to see how they show Mary Anning on film but it will feel like a bad copy of your story.
@LichtLuxLucia Mi chiedo come hai fatto, io dopo 14 recensioni sarei svenuta... (infatti sto guardando Twitter, che non guardo quasi mai, per ritardare l'attacco delle verifiche di letteratura)
