@coachseansnyder Coach Quattaro called me years ago on a day where it was gusting to 40 and we thought that was windy. Winds hit 120 that night. June 19, 1990. Didn't kick for at least a week after that due to clean up and no electricity for 6 days.
@IsaacPunts So, I would say similar conditions typically, outside of the dome games, but primarily due to talent level that has been found in that league.
@IsaacPunts I attended a game this summer in Calgary. The conditions were great that day. I believe there are 9 teams and many games have very little wind. The temps are also ok because the season is played earlier in the year, so it hasn't gotten frigid yet. Just checking your reasons.
@IsaacPunts I admit the numbers are very impressive. However what is your reasoning for saying it is harder to punt in Canada. Wind? Temp? Blocking schemes? The ball itself?
@IsaacPunts It would to those of us who care. The problem is that nationally we are a very small minority. Years back they did do some outdoor PIG-style competition around a field and showed some of it. They were taking some kicks outside of a high school stadium back toward the goal posts.
@BrandonHerring0 Worst explanation from a high school coach ever when told his players had pants too high - "Well the kids just won't do it." Guess what, you are the coach, and you can fix it. Show you are in control and require it of the kids and don't just send them out however they want.
@chicoschisme @AB84 They used to be, I was a walk-on who earned the scholarship over time. With tighter squad number limitations, 85 scholarships, 105 on the squad, they are more like your toes, you would like to have them all, but you can get along without a few of them. Some will be told to leave.
@SharpFootball Two games in just a few days where coaches made the same choice and lost. Denver and San Jose St could have gone for 2 at the end of regulation and controlled the outcome. They didn't and both lost. Take your shot when you get it and don't leave the game to chance.
@DPWorldTour Well sure, that is the line my ball will end on but it was because I was aiming at the 18th green...and I'll be lucky to clear the fences but my slice will have it going right down the fairway if I do.
@Coach_Brion Watching Justin Tucker the last few years, I knew we would see more weird movements from high school kickers. He spends quite a few seconds in odd adjustments to get to his start point and since he is successful, it would seem he would get copied.
@GeorgiaTechFB@CollegeGameDay@GTAthletics O-line and d-line never know what they are talking about when they claim it is so easy but the holder is setting them up for failure. He is missing the spot by 6".
@BDunnsports@CoastalFootball@Coachtimbeck The new rules have created a farm system so that freshmen, even to a greater rate, won't go to FBS schools. FBS wants players who have proved themselves. So, the kids will go to G5, FCS, or D2 and hope to get the callup to the big leagues. There are some outlier schools though.
@punt_21@KSShrineBowl Yep. I also pushed for it back in 2022 and they brought them in and then we had a set back in 2023. 2 or 3 specialists would be nice especially when not all of the other kids even see the field. All-Star game where teams go for two is disappointing.
@bruce_mcgonigal Won't happen but if it did there would be 12 new states and not just one, Quebec can stay its own country as the US won't agree to an official language of any kind.
@YukonStrong I spent 6 weeks in Alberta this year and thought the people there were great. They were the same people doing the same things as the people where I grew up but 1000 miles away. There is a couple there who would get a Christmas card from me if the postal service wasn't on strike.
