Busy week! I left my @DisscoFlanders position at @ugent to pursue a PhD in urban biodiversity of #mosses and #lichens at @HortusLeiden and @museumnaturalis. This PhD is part of the #HiddenBiodiversity project. Excited for the future!

330 species!

This is the final species count for our #BioBlitz at the #BotanicGarden of @ugent last saturday. At night, we caught 39 species of moths, which @BartVanCamp1 bundled in one beautiful picture!

There are >330 species of Magnolia recognised worldwide. Magnolia has diversity hotspots such as Mexico & Columbia, but here, >95% of taxa are threatened with extinction. Assessing these species helps identify & prioritise Magnolia of greatest conservation concern.
