There is a huge crisis in the services for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
I've secured a debate in Parliament this week on this crisis.
So many children are suffering and their families left totally exhausted by this situation.
A lot of people have already shared their experiences with me and I will try to make as many of these points as possible in the debate.
If you would like to share your experience of SEND provision, then please do so below.
Aside from being confusing, acronyms can dehumanise those we care for and our/their experience. My most hated one is CIN (Child In Need). The acronym sounds awful CIN/SIN and the full words aren't any better.

Things that could have been better
- the children's play park wasn't inclusive for us.
- One tiny net swing - too small for our 14 year old daughter
- No access to the slide for a child with limited mobility
- No wheelchair accessible play
Such a missed opportunity

@EdenProject Thanks for a great (and mostly inclusive) day out for our family. Things that were great:
- Changing rooms bathroom
- Staff at the den building proactively helping me with my daughter (who has a learning disability)
- Accessible pathways all over the place
Lucky enough to have a holiday home that you let out? Want to be inclusive to people with a learning disability (and their families)? Then you are awesome and read on. 7 simple things you could be doing: #LearningDisability#InclusiveHolidays#ParentCarer#SummerHolidays
@neilmcrowther Love this Neil. I took the words from a poem "what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life" - it was a turning point to owning our own story, caring for our daughter - and not just becoming the negative narrative that surrounded her support.
@GMB I caught some of this debate around the school run. No mention of children with disabilities. I'd rather have a plane full of tolerant people - can we exclude the intolerant people from flights please? Pretty sure that would make for a nicer ride through life generally
