Paper alert! We combine modeling and experiments to study “balanced” EI assemblies of co-tuned excitatory and inhibitory neurons in a memory network. TL; DR: EI assemblies suppress “runaway activity” & “runaway correlations” - which interfere w/ memory capacity & discriminability
