So excited to share the first footages from my camera traps recording sleep in wild chimpanzees!
It's a daily struggle to get the cameras set up correctly, but hopefully I'll have plenty of new videos soon and help sheding some light on sleep patterns in our closest cousins.

@Aakash_KrPathak Tegarding the food consumption, I record every feeding activity, including food type (fruits, leaves, roots...), tree name and feeding duration. Unfortunately, I don't record vegetal coverage, if this is what you meant, because it's a bit too much for me haha

@Aakash_KrPathak Yes exactly, we attach the camera once the chimps have nested, and then we remove it the next morning.
Regarding the daily sleep, they actually take daytime naps, yes! Or at least, resting time. Mostly during the hot hours in the middle of the day.

@Aakash_KrPathak My study aims at identifying interinvidivual variations in sleeping habits in chimps (total sleep duration, sleep timing, fragmentation…) and to assess which external and internal factors (environment, age, sex…) underlie these patterns. The study started only one month ago :)
