@draftinsight Certainly thinking that Fin Bean could be the wicketkeeper batsman at Yorks. Not sure what he has done wrong but not played as an opening bat since the first round of CC games. Played keeper bat in the 50 over comp. Assume mid term Bairstow replacement.

@RoderickEasdale Very accurate summary. I was there and I thought it was a great cricket wicket for a 4 day game. Good balance between bat and ball.

@TheMiddleStump I was there Day 1 & Day 4. The pitch certainly offered pace & bounce Day 4, but it was not 'dodgy' at all imo. Of the 7 wickets on Fri am, none were due to the pitch. The bowling was straight, seam up, & there were 4 catches behind the wicket. Game won Day 3 by Bess & Hill.

@DanKingdom96 To be fair, watching from the stands today, I didn’t think the batsmen did too much wrong. No really loose shots. Good, straight, seam bowling, good catches, & a lot went our way. Over the 4 days, Cliff seemed to get way more from the pitch than anybody else.

@richardgibsonDM @YorkshireCCC @SomersetCCC It did have life, but Cliff in particular extracted it. SOM bowlers didn’t in reality, and I watched the game live. Didn’t see too many complaints when nos 7 & 10 for SOM, & 7 & 8 for YORKS, piled on the runs. TBH, didn’t think SOM did much wrong today, v. decent seam bowling.

@cricket_badger It’s a ‘what could have been’ season. I watched us snatch defeat from winning positions v SOM in T20, & v Notts at York. A win v Surrey 2 wks ago was more likely than not. Add in just a few 100s from the top 6 & it could have been v. different. Roll on 2027.

@SheffieldGunner I think he is absolutely integral to the side, and our next captain. Real gutsy player, although his shot on Tuesday was dreadful. Redeemed himself on day 3. Still only 29.

@yorkshirebloke_ Ditto, I got stacked up with food and hot flask tea for an absolutely gripping day. Home by 1230 with family pack Doritos and Mars bars to get rid of. I thought Coad and Cliff were terrific, good catching, & to be fair to Somerset, I didn’t think they did too much wrong today.

@mattylufc_ We have a very, very good slip cordon as well in Hill, Lyth & Bess, and JB doesn’t miss many. Noticed Coad (4 for) a bit good-naturedly miffed when JB took him off so that Rev could bowl at no. 11. To be fair, he then bowled 2 spectacularly good yorkers.

@voigthill I was there this morning as a YORKS member. Very good bowling, good catches, and lots went YORKS way. I didn’t think the batsmen gave it away by any means.

Fantastic YORKS win today. Went home after Day 1 wondering who had had the better day, & likely not being able to see any cricket Day 4. Overton, Pretorius, Hill & Bess proved what could be done, Coad & Cliff terrific today. It’s a ‘what could have been’ season for YORKS……..

@cricket_scribe I went this morning. To be fair, I didn't see any really loose shots (maybe Rew). 4 catches behind the wicket suggests just good, straight, seam bowling, and plenty went right for YORKS, and vice-versa for SOM.

@richardgibsonDM I was there for 2/4 days. Yes, there was SOME irregular bounce. But it had some pace in it as well, & the bowlers who knew how to use it did well. I think I spotted nos. 7 & 10 for SOM, and 7 & 8 for YORKS cope perfectly well. This morning was simply good, straight seam bowling.

@JonathanDoidge Anticipated a gripper, stocked up on food for the whole day at Headingley. Just made the start in time, and back home for lunch at 1230!! Thinking of what the season could have been (1/4 final T20 win v Som, 1/4 final Metro win v Notts, Surrey win 2 weeks ago, a few more 100s....

@mattylufc_ Agreed. To all those Somerset followers, be aware that having been there this morning, there were no real loose shots, only Rew maybe. Just good bowling. Noted Coad (4 for) not exactly delighted just beneath me when JB made the change to Revis to bowl at no. 11. 3 balls later....

@KP24 Anticipated an absolute gripper at Headingley, managed to just get there for the start, 1230 and I am already back home typing this! Good, straight bowling, 4 catches behind the wicket today. Game won by Hill & Bess yesterday. Hill Player of the Year at YCCC by a mile.

Thoughts from Headingley this am: 85 mins of top class bowling in cloudy conditions (4 catches behind the wicket), batters having to play most balls. Expected more from Som but no real loose shots to be fair. As others have noted, if top order had been better.......

@mattylufc_ Now 7 & 8 (Hill & Bess) are numbers 1 & 3 in aggregate runs. Hence question is whether all the others are having bad seasons, or will they all get better? Only 5 100s all season. Bean seems unlucky, but Luxton was scoring heavily in 2nds. Bennison in 1st XI next season.

@JonathanDoidge @YorkshireCCC @SomersetCCC Having watched all day from the stands, I can’t see any problem. I thought Yorks left a few out there with a number of dodgy shots, but Somerset bowled well though. Opening bowlers for Yorks were right on it, particularly Cliff who was hostile. And…same for both sides!
