The final budget includes 20M dollars for a mixed income housing supply revolving fund.
This fund will increase housing supply and make housing more affordable.
Proud to have worked on it with @HelmerVA and @GovernorVA!

When housing prices skyrocket people flee. Not because they want to but because they have to.
I want to live in a state where the broad middle class and my children can put down roots.
That’s not possible when you have the housing crisis Virginia has.
The real “runaway” problem?
Teachers and first responders pushed out of the communities they serve by rising housing costs.
More 🏡 supply means lower costs, stronger schools, and thriving communities.
We’ve made a lot of progress, but we have much more work to do. Let’s work together to lower taxes & costs, keep our neighborhoods safe, empower parents in education, and discourage runaway development.
I’m asking for your vote starting Sept. 19th.
Wild. Hearing about the Pope’s Richmond ties. He traveled to RVA his senior year at Villanova (1977) to see The Grateful Dead at the Mosque, now the Altria. He couldn’t get tickets and hung around the city enjoying a meal from Strawberry Street Cafe’s bathtub salad bar.
🏡Affordability Starts with Increasing Supply📈
75% of U.S. households—100.6 million—can’t afford a new single-family home at today’s median price of $459,826 and a 6.5% mortgage rate.

🏠 Trumps tariffs would raise the cost of housing and price thousands of Virginians out of the market.
HBA of VA’s CEO @CraigToalson on the impact: “For every $1,000 increase in the cost of housing, 3,800 households can no longer afford that housing.”

Respectfully, Senator: This ain't it.
Virginia is building HALF of the housing we were building 2 decades ago, yet population growth continues.
We do need to make housing more accessible, but we solve a housing shortage with more housing, not red tape.

Zoning reforms, financial incentives, and streamlined processes are not enough. Everything needs to be on the table, including modernizing our building codes, if we are serious about tackling the housing crisis.

We can’t be afraid of change. We have to get to yes. Getting to yes means more jobs, lower home/rent costs, and younger people and families being able to stay in Virginia.
A new @Harvard_JCHS report shows how modernizing building codes can unlock development opportunities in land-constrained areas, boost #housing supply, & lower costs. Thanks to @ScVanValkenburg & @AdeleMcClure_, VA is working towards similar reforms🏘️

I am really believing that this will start a movement of communities using dedicated funding to tackle some of the most pressing issues. Proud of my colleagues for blazing a trail in this regard. Onward! @SchmittyVA@RoscoeCooperIII@Rogish4Tuckahoe@mistyfor3chopt
Henrico County continues to be a leader in housing supply and housing affordability! If we can build on the bipartisan momentum we’ve started at the state level and other localities follow Henrico’s lead we can ensure housing is available and affordable.https://t.co/ZL5dHrSulW
I received a call today from a landowner of RB property asking about the City's new zoning ordinance. He was really timid saying, "I don't want to do anything unethical," which is great, but-
-there's nothing demonic about providing more homes for people!
🏘️ The size of new homes is at a 13-year low, reflecting homebuilders response to consumers preference for smaller, more affordable new homes.

Sen. @ScVanValkenburg’s bill creating an advisory group on single staircase reform to allow such buildings up to six stories just unanimously passed the Virginia Senate! The group should report its recommendations by the end of the year.
