Why is the return of Andriy Melnyk more than just a reburial?
Today brought historic news: Ukraine is returning the remains of Colonel of the Ukrainian People’s Army and OUN leader Andriy Melnyk from Luxembourg to be reburied in Kyiv.
Some may ask: “Why focus on bringing back remains while the country is fighting a brutal war and facing countless urgent problems?” From the perspective of cold pragmatism, the question may sound reasonable. But from the perspective of history and the spiritual meaning of a nation, this is an event of enormous significance.
To understand the deeper meaning of this return, it is worth opening the Book of Genesis. When the patriarch Joseph was dying in Egypt — a land where he had become second only to Pharaoh himself, where he possessed immense power and wealth — he left his people with a strange final request. He did not ask for grand pyramids or monuments. Instead, he made the Israelites swear an oath:
“When God leads you out of this land, carry my bones with you.” (Genesis 50:25)
Centuries passed. The great Exodus began. Moses was fleeing Pharaoh’s army, leading his people through chaos and a desperate struggle for survival. Yet amid all of this, he remembered one essential thing — he took Joseph’s bones with him.
Why would Moses burden himself with this in the middle of a journey through the desert? Because a nation cannot fully enter its Promised Land while leaving its founding fathers buried in foreign soil. As long as your heroes lie in чужой земле, you remain a nation in exile. A refugee in your own mind.
For nearly a century, Ukrainians were a people with a “scattered pantheon.” Some of our greatest political, military, and cultural figures were buried in Munich, Paris, Rotterdam, Luxembourg, and the United States. They were murdered, forced into exile, or died far from home while dreaming of only one thing — to return to Ukraine.
Their graves abroad became monuments to our statelessness. Silent proof that at home they faced prison, persecution, or death.
The return of Andriy Melnyk represents a profound shift in Ukrainian identity.
It marks the end of the long era of exile.
By bringing its leaders home, Ukraine is telling the world: we are no longer a people without a state. We are no longer homeless exiles forced to bury our heroes in foreign corners of Europe. We are the masters of our own land, finally ready to receive the ashes of our fathers and honor them properly.
A state that, even during the most terrible war in its history, still finds the strength and will to gather its dead proves one unshakable truth:
That state intends to live forever.
🇺🇦🛡 I came to bid farewell to my cousin Pylyp Gogol in Pidhorodne (a suburb of Dnipro), who died defending Ukraine. He was 25.
He was a grenadier in the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Magura and was killed in May 2024 near Ocheretyne, Donetsk Oblast.
For nearly two years, he was considered missing, but his body was returned during a swap of bodies in 2025, and a recent DNA test confirmed a match with his mother (my aunt).
He could have completed his education, started a family, and opened his own business, but Russia killed him.
The scale of this tragedy lies in the fact that we have lost thousands of our finest people – the cream of the nation.
@_InfoGram_ Everyone's Loves him after all he's the greatest.
He is the only President in the history of America who declared himself as demigod and later deleted his social media post.
The Russians don't like these AI videos of Putin's parade in Moscow.
How can one permanently delete such videos so that they don't get circulated?
Does anyone have an idea?

“¿Quieren saber qué insulta a Jesús?
“¿Saben qué insulta a Jesús?”, continuó.
“¿Saben qué insulta a Jesús?
