It has been so lovely to see Elva return this year! We’ve missed her cheeky antics. Loving the Christmas excitement that is buzzing in the classroom 🎄🎅🏼
Today we were learning about trade and how important this was during the Iron Age. We looked at importing and exporting, bartering and how coins changed trade. We had a go at a trading game, to see if we could barter with our friends for items we needed to ‘survive’ the Iron Age.
We have been collecting textured rubbings in art today. These will form the basis of our artistic representations next week, based on examples of frottage by Max Ernst.
Our classroom display grids are starting to fill up as we’re working our way through this term’s exciting units of learning. It’ll be so nice to be able to share all of our learning with visitors again in a few weeks time!
In Science we’re learning about health and movement. So far, we’ve learnt about bones, muscles and joints in the body and how muscles contract and relax in order to create movement. We made a model hand to show this happening ✋🏻
The children took so much time and care to create our window display and they are really proud of it. They talked maturely and sensitively about why we have remembrance and how we show our respect through events and actions around this time.
So proud of how their seasonal tarts turned out! And I know the children are proud too. More action pics to follow but couldn’t wait to share the finished products 🍅🥬🥦🥔😍
What a lovely afternoon we had yesterday! We worked in our house groups, spending time in each classroom to complete different Harvest Festival based activities. Such kindness and collaboration going on in White Tigers classroom from each and every member of our school! 🌽🥦🥕
So proud of how the seasonal tart mockups have turned out! They’ve thought about flavours and textures when choosing their ingredients, as well as making sure they are visually appealing. We can’t wait to make them next week and taste test the real things!
Today we were learning about consent and it’s importance. We talked about how personal boundaries can be different depending on the people involved and we are beginning to think about how we can communicate our personal boundaries.
It was certainly a mixture of feelings during taste testing this week! We had to taste test seasonal ingredients, to see which flavours and textures will work best in our seasonal tart. A lot of new foods for some and lots of brave attempts to try new things!
Some great discussions and use of new vocabulary today. Testing to see whether all shadows are the same for all materials. We used our knowledge of opaque, translucent and transparent to discuss our findings.
Really interesting discussions in PSHE about gender stereotypes. We looked at toys and toy adverts and thought about whether toys can sometimes lead to stereotyping. We learnt what stereotypes mean and discussed our thoughts and views on them.
In Science, we have been learning how to use data loggers to investigate which items reflect more light. We then looked at our findings and discussed the reasons for our results 💡
We had great fun having a go at writing our new French phrases. This week we started to look other greetings and the different times of day that you might use them.
Today we were learning about verbs and deciding if they were an ‘action’ verb or a ‘being’ verb. It’s so nice to be able to take our learning outside whilst the weather is being kind to us!
