Meet Isabel Cutter who aged 9 in 1735 found the swanky 4th century silver "Corbridge Lanx" now in the @britishmuseum. We believe her blacksmith father who later sold it for £30 (£8,000 today) to the local goldsmith was royally ripped off. #Classics

Meet John Martin the Northumberland landscape painter whose "The Destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum" (1822) kicked up a volcanic storm. The painting was restored in 2011 after floodwater damage suffered in 1928. #ClassicsTwitter #art
