Just got off the phone with my college roommate.
His daughter was diagnosed with leukemia in January.
He has insurance. Good insurance. The kind you feel safe having.
7 months later:
Savings: wiped out. 401k: cashed early. Penalties and all. House: refinanced to cover the gaps insurance decided weren’t their problem.
He told me he’s not the same person anymore.
Said watching your child fight for her life while simultaneously fighting an insurance company over coverage codes does something to you that doesn’t go away.
They did everything right.
Two incomes. No debt. Responsible their whole lives.
One diagnosis undid all of it in 7 months.
And somewhere a health insurance CEO is getting a $30 million bonus this quarter.
I don’t know how people defend this system with a straight face.
I really don’t.
Elon Musk once jokingly offered to end World Hunger, asking how much it would cost as if it would be some incalculable number.
When the UN replied saying 6.6 Billion would be enough to immediately end Famine for the year he never responded, and a few months later bought Twitter for 44 Billion.
You struggle and suffer because people like him are allowed to exist, not because your neighbor is an immigrant.
@Yeeeerrrrobi If Mikel, Keaton, or Kingston are there at 9, it better be a stick and pick or it'll be a D- draft no matter who they get with the extra assets.
@SnackPr0tein Yeah, I don't think he's ever gonna be as defensively capable as Dereck Lively, but that's one of the advantages you get with running Cooper Flagg as his help-side partner
@CurseMuse We are not close to being ready to go all in. Just eat the last year and bide time. Also, the free agent stock this year is about as bad as the Risacher draft was relative to other free agencies. Terrible year to care about spending future money.
@Hunteryounggg@williamjames@CryptoTRoute@nypost About as dumb as you ignoring Trump making himself and his family the only IRS immune family, while also using his own finance officers and judges to give himself billions of dollars. Keep the blinders on, Secretariat.
