Routines can be so powerful. Especially when students are clear on the purpose and value. ‘Turn and Talk’ is an example of a routine that can be simple & powerful when the goal is unpacked with students and they have opportunities to reflect on and refine their engagement
When a procedure becomes a routine it focuses student working memory on learning. When it becomes a visible predictable norm it motivates and shapes positive behavior.
