Yesterday, the Downtown San Diego Partnership along with our partners @prebysfound and @U3Advisors presented a bold vision for a reimagined San Diego Civic Center in the heart of Downtown. This collaborative effort, with input from local architects, residents, planners, arts groups, and other key stakeholders, imagines a new vibrant, attractive, and accessible civic center that prioritizes culture, education, purposeful housing, and an iconic public space with a true neighborhood feel. https://t.co/6FqTVJ0uxZ
🚨 For the last six months, Clean & Safe Ambassadors have been partnering with @SanDiegoPD for a Downtown Walking Patrol pilot. During these efforts, officers and safety ambassadors engage with local business owners to better identify criminal elements and respond to public safety threats. This pilot directly supports our five-point safety plan to reduce crime and improve the pedestrian experience Downtown. Through community-focused solutions, we’re addressing concerns raised by residents, businesses, and property owners, resulting in a decrease in crime in the area. Since the pilot’s launch, property crime in Downtown has decreased by 24%, while crimes against society have gone down by 16%. In just six months, SDPD’s walking patrols have made 172 felony arrests, issued 105 misdemeanor citations, and written 145 citations involving narcotics in key patrol areas. This is just one example of how we are turning strategic priorities into visible progress. 🚨

As part of our strategic plan to actualize the full potential of Clean & Safe, we've invested in the Cyclone Technology Deep Cleaning System, an environmentally friendly solution engineered to deep clean outdoor surfaces more efficiently! Our deep cleaning crew operates the cyclone throughout the week, revitalizing spots that need a little extra care based on community feedback. See how we are taking another step toward achieving cleaner, more welcoming streets. ✨

Work to implement the Downtown San Diego Partnership's 5-Point Safety Plan that advocates for a cleaner and safer Downtown continues. We recently hosted another working meeting this time with leaders from the County of San Diego. Downtown businesses and residents joined Sheriff Kelly Martinez, District Attorney @SummerStephan, Director of the County of San Diego's Behavioral Health Services Luke Bergmann, and a representative from Supervisor Nora Vargas's office to talk about the County's role in reducing crime and improving public safety and cleanliness in Downtown. We talked about next steps to put our safety plan in action including the implementation of CARE Court, State Senate Bill 43, Prop 36 and Prop 1 funding in Downtown. We know resolving the challenges to the current experience of Downtown residents, employees, and visitors will take the collective alignment of all levels of government.
Please read the statement below from Alonso Vivas, our Clean & Safe SVP & Executive Director, addressing the tragic loss of Officer Machitar and the critical injury of Officer Martinez. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, and the entire San Diego Police Department.

I get that we political scientists are “boring”, “have faces for radio”, “have voices for silent films” and “dress like Keebler elves” but I really think we could add much to TV post-election analysis
As a current poli sci grad student, I fully support this. Especially for us non-math people, understanding the concepts and how to implement them in R is super beneficial. Earlier the better!
