Yes, the driver was drunk. That's probably the only reason he's in jail right now. If he was sober he'd have slept in his own bed last night. Sober drivers mow down pedestrians and bicyclists on the daily and as a country we just shrug our shoulders.
He was drunk, and he killed a widely liked white person so they're gonna throw the book at him but keep in mind that this is not how most cases of road violence get treated by the authorities.
@joeschwarten It was so weird. I need to stop dwelling on it. It's just I had zero interaction with this driver until he started yelling. At least he is pro public transportation!
@carrieprice78 Yeah, yeah. You know how you have done something for so long and then you sometimes question that thing? I think this is a healthy practice on my part!
Today, as we do every year, we celebrate the anniversary of Larry Doby's debut and the lasting legacy his courage left on the game of baseball. ❤️
#ForTheLand
Larry Doby integrated the American League on this day in 1947, joining Cleveland straight from the Negro Leagues after starring with the Newark Eagles.
Today, we honor a Hall of Famer whose courage was second to none. https://t.co/NqRqJor3xM
I would like to ask all of Guardians Twitter to temporarily change your Twitter Avi to a picture of Larry Doby or #14 tonight and tomorrow. Even if MLB won't give him the recognition he deserves, we still can.
#DobyDay
77 years ago today, Larry Doby played his final game with the Newark Eagles, rushed to Penn Station in Newark, and then waited there for an overnight train to Chicago, where he'd join his new Cleveland teammates the next day. Here's what I wrote about that day in "Our Team."
Larry Doby became the first Black player in the American League when he pinch hit for pitcher Bryan Stephens in the 7th inning of the #Indians 6-5 loss to the #WhiteSox#OTD in 1947. The former Newark Eagle would be elected to the #HallofFame in 1998. https://t.co/FkXwPr7Dp5
@EliSeitz10 Also, I must stress again that my hair was wet from a recent shower. It wasn't all sweat in my hair, although it was mostly sweat! Look, we both weren't selfie ready! 😀 🚲 ⚾️
