Happy to share our new paper in @Oikos_Journal! We studied the establishment of cordgrass and seagrass transplants in Zeeland. Both species are called 'ecosystem engineers', and form the basis of rich and valuable coastal ecosystems.
We learned how establishment thresholds posed by env. conditions affect species differently, and may be linked to species morphology and plant-environment interactions. Understanding plant-environement feedback and species-specific establishment is important for restoration 🌱🌱

🌱In this new post, Clea van de Ven discusses conducting ecological research in European shores, encourages us to dig into salt marshes, and shares the joy behind coincidences in life🌊

We are very excited to host the Coastal Ecology Workshop #CEW2022 on the island of Schiermonnikoog (NL) this year! The workshop is intended for early-career scientists with topics related to coastal ecology.
Registration and abstract submission are open: https://t.co/YSiGrTWRz3
What a week! Club Groningen and Texel using the best scientific knowledge for the sustainable management of estuaries and coastal seas.

Two #nioz posters at #NWOLife2022. Meeting life scientists from different institutes and presenting exciting results from my phd in coastal ecology. Ideas start here!
As a lucky #PhD I study the lively #saltmarshes at Hamburger Hallig in the #WaddenSea. I spent loads of days in the field measuring #greenhousegases with my “portable” analyser and chamber I call R2D2.
Next up: #globalwarming´s influence on these fluxes to contribute to @MERIT.
