So now we see the value of education.
£1000, before tax, and a below inflation increase for next year of 4.5%.
Not fully funded.
Less than fire service, doctors, railway workers and the offer to teachers in Wales and Scotland.
That’s how little they value education.
I go to a lot of schools, and everyone is focusing on metacognition or dual coding or disciplinary this or curriculum intent that. Then I go into lessons, and teachers are asking questions and students are calling out answers or tchrs are picking ones with hands up. Fix that.

The gap between inflation and the reality of teachers' salaries is staggering.
1 in 5 teachers will leave the profession within the first few years of qualification.

@miss_sharrock2@MrTs_NQTs I pretty much ignore interruptions and it seems to work well. If people are talking, I do a look at talk right at them or I go over and will literally stand next to someone/sit on the end of their desk! Behaviour is feedback - talking = not engaged = need to change something!
a day after my #pgce term finished, I found myself on a flight to Budapest, now somehow I'm in Belgrade and who knows what next... going to end up a tad behind on my workload, but I call this professional development ✌️🌏🇷🇸🇭🇺
The joy of primary is that we’re not only in the business of learning, but of enhancing childhoods.
Don’t judge us for teaching AND doing ‘stuff’ for the excitement it brings, for the sparkle it adds to this phase of education. We’re in the magic-weaving business too. 3/3
@HeroicMrT I thought moderation guidelines indicate working towards/ expected do not need to show joined writing all of the time, but greater depth must be joined for a significant majority - so surely at least those who aren't expected to be greater depth shouldn't have to obsess over this
This is the #1 🚩 of a literacy curriculum or program for me. Without these pieces, instruction cant be systematic. Response to assessment is ambiguous, understanding what a student needs to know/be able to do is questionable. Thank you @DrMPaff for inspo!
I know that calling in sick as a teacher can sometimes be a hassle and stuff but honestly this widespread "must be in!" mentality thing has to stop.
Stay home. Get better.
#teachers --> do your #EAL students use their home language in school ever, if so how often and in what context?
I am proposing a #research project on the perspectives, self-efficacy and general experiences of students w #EAL so some context would be useful!
If anyone who sees this has worked in a british international school (especially primary!), please get in touch! It's #ect application time and I feel very lost!
@Miss_COwens@MrTs_NQTs I usually ensure they've had the chance to talk first. And I ALWAYS value a pupils response even if wrong - if they can't answer, get "help" frok another pupil and then go back to the pupil and have them repeat it. It works v well when you respect the kids and their ideas!
