I joined pupils at Corngreaves Academy on Clean Air Day to launch a new schools programme on air pollution.
We read a brilliant story together and talked about how the air we breathe affects our health — and how we can all help.
Clean air is a right, not a privilege — and education is where action starts.
Yesterday for #CleanAirDay, we ran 15 sessions at Heathfield School! We engaged pupils & parents on air pollution challenges & risks. Together, we're building healthier communities! 🌬️🏫 #CleanAir#HeathfieldSchool
It was great to catch up with the @CleanAirJustice team a part of the Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition and their campaign to make Birmingham toxic air-free! Let's work together for cleaner air. #CleanAirNow#Birmingham
Great to catch up with @CleanAirJustice & @MumsForLungs campaigners before Council y'day. Despite success of Clean Air Zone which has reduced NOx emissions in city centre, still so much to be done on air quality in Brum: that's why #HealthyAirCoalition's key asks are crucial 🫁
Great to speak with Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition campaigners about their work to free our city from the impact of toxic air. You can get more information about their work at https://t.co/oNByxSBGBq
Updated @BhamCityCouncil Councillors on Birmingham Healthy Air Coalitions campaign to make Birmingham toxic air-free! Let's work together for cleaner air. #CleanAirNow#Birmingham
Every year, around 2,300 people in the West Midlands die early due to long-term exposure to air pollution. It's unacceptable.
I’ve introduced a new pollution monitoring system across the region to tackle this crisis.
It’s great to see organisations like Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition supporting my mission to improve air quality and give West Midlands residents healthier lives.
Yesterday we hand-delivered an open letter with local campaigners, @CleanAirJustice and #Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition to West midlands Mayor @RichParkerLab. The letter urged him to commit to meeting @WHO air quality guidelines and to meaningfully engage with local communities in the region's air quality plan.
Great engagement at @WMLabour conference!
We briefed Ministers, MPs, @MayorWestMids, @BrumLeader, @WestMidsPCC , Cabinet Members, Councillors & Trade Union leaders on Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition’s work tackling toxic air. Strong interest in our model to fight air pollution
Productive meetings with Parliamentarians this week alongside #Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition @CleanAirJustice @TAWSociety @CleanAirFund to discuss our campaign for cleaner air in Birmingham.
We're urging policymakers to take action to protect our communities. #CleanAir
Great to show my support to the Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition @CleanAirJustice at their Parliamentary event.
This coalition unites health, environment, and transport leaders to champion the right to clean, safe air for everyone, regardless of who they are or where they live.
🚨 Lighthouse Youth Centre SAVED! 🚨
@TheLighthouseYP in #Lozells will remain a @BhamCityCouncil run facility, providing vital youth services.
Lozells Recreation Group will have a partnership model which will see community groups utilise the space.
#Lozells#YouthServices
Had a great time recording a podcast with the amazing young people of @BlesstCentre.
We talked about how to create a more sustainable and equitable future.

Great to see so many passionate young people at our #BrumForCleanAir event! 💪 Let's work together to tackle air pollution and create a brighter future for our city. #CleanAirBirmingham
Thanks to Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition, @CleanAirJustice and @asthmalunguk for their support and expertise and in particular to the inspiring Deputy Mayor of London, @metecoban92 for joining me as a keynote speaker.

Lovely to see so many like-minded institutions, activists and academics at the @WMAir_UoB Annual Meeting today which includes a keynote speech from @UKenergyinnov8#BrumBreathes
Today we have been supporting the efforts of @asthmalunguk highlighting the scandal of #toxicairplaygrounds across the UK. 99% of public playgrounds in Britain and across Birmingham are in areas with dangerous levels of pollution.
This must change!
