Intense heatwave and Chandigarh on a tree cutting spree. When the entire country is advised how to protect themselves from #Heatwave. Ridiculously ridiculous. There wasn’t the need to cut these trees. These trees are not obstruction . The road is wide enough. Cycle track is already there. These trees were guy grown Eucalyptus trees. Somehow I am seeing eucalyptus trees are the ones being cut all over Chandigarh, in Panjab University, Sector 9 , last year in sector 7 as well. The cost of eucalyptus timber generally ranges from ₹400 to ₹900 per cubic foot depending on the region and wood quality. For bulk quantities or industrial use (e.g., pulp, poles, or firewood), it typically costs between ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 per metric tonne. Why just eucalyptus? It is really weird when people talk about Heritage of Chandigarh. The real Heritage of Chandigarh are the villages that were displaced. The real Heritage were these villages. Let's live in harmony and not look down upon those who gave their land. What these people got was a well designed and well planned city, they mix up " planning, architecture with heritage" .

I request @PMOIndia to look into the Rock Garden matter. Sir it is of grave concern that orders were given out to demolish a wall that had artwork of Nek Chand ji.
How did we become fans of Talibans ? They destroyed beautiful monuments of historical importance , the Bambiyan statutes . Demolition of this part of Rock Garden shows the insensitivity of those who gave these order .

Views from today, the trees in this area are absolutely fantastic. Remember the song "big yellow taxi" which says "they paved paradise to put up a parking lot". These are concerned citizens fighting for nature, and to preserve the space they live in.
