Trump opposed climate action in the shipping sector because, he claimed, it would "raise costs" for consumers
He then started a war which sent marine insurance costs up 12X, oil up 10%, and European natural gas up 50%.

Japan completes first methanol ship-to-ship bunkering
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and four partners have completed Japan’s first ship-to-ship #methanol bunkering operation, transferring domestically produced methanol to a dual-fuel vessel at Yokohama’s Keihin Port. The fuel, derived from waste or plant-based feedstocks, is designed to deliver carbon-neutral lifecycle emissions. The milestone marks a practical step in building Japan’s alternative fuel infrastructure and reinforces methanol’s role in maritime decarbonisation. According to #MarineTraffic data, the bunkering operation started off the coast of Japan on February 6 at 00:21 UTC and concluded five hours later at 05:36 UTC.

🐳After the hugely successful ban on commercial whaling 40 years ago, the biggest threat to whales now is cargo ships hitting them, killing an estimated 20,000 whales each year 🚢🤯
So how are we going to protect whales this time?
Will we ever see a strong stance from @IMOHQ?

🚢 New report! A Just and Equitable Transition for Shipping 🚢
A new global emissions fee has been agreed for shipping – set to raise ~$10B/year.
But how the money is spent will decide whether this is a win for climate justice – or a giveaway to big polluters. 🧵
🎉 A journey #AllTheWayToZero! The world’s first large dual-fuel methanol container fleet is complete. From Aarhus to Yokohama, each launch marked progress and partnership. These vessels carry change. Proud to be part of the energy transition — the journey continues, stay tuned!
