@leftacademic As a 'left academic' why on earth was your first impulse to talk to the THE for a hit piece, rather than raise your concerns with the people who passed the motion of your branch (if you're in one)?
@leftacademic But the strategy leans on point b) 'cannot be settled without him exercising a power conferred on him by or under an enactment.' The enactment in this case being HERA 2017.
@engasal What's also funny is the idea that organising workers in the complex supply chain of weapons manufacturing indulges in old ideas of effective agency, while assuming 1-day external disruptions of these workplaces doesnt also indulge in an old idea of how production is disrupted.

🚨 BREAKING 🚨
From tomorrow, unionised workers @glasgowfilm will refuse to handle products from companies complicit in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Unfortunately, senior management has failed to heed repeated collective calls from their own workers to cut links with companies such as Barclays and Coca Cola.
Here's a fairly safe wager: mass redundancies in higher education will flood the job market with an oversupply of overqualified workers, accelerating the growth of casual labour recruitment agencies.

@Arbeit_Fish @Permanentkritik But these are specialist argument-makers, nothing about their profession predisposes them to spend time practically changing the world. Doing that would prevent them doing their job, which is research, competently composing arguments and valorising their academic capital etc.
@Arbeit_Fish @Permanentkritik Yeh, alota ppl forgot about this one too.
Tbh, I don't really understand why people expect academics to act outwith their class interests. Obviously the changes in the sector mean that for some these class interests are decomposing....
@Arbeit_Fish @Permanentkritik Guy is a walking platitude merchant. It blows my mind how much attention a mildly good-looking male academic can get while spouting the most hackneyed leftoid sentiments.
