Marine ecologist at Cefas (UK) with specific interest in weird-looking animals living on the seafloor - the weirder the better (my tweets are my own view)

AFBI has joined the UK Centre for Seabed Mapping to expand its role within marine science. Coordinating surveys with partners will ensure greater benefit to NI, the wider UK & ROI. .@AFBI_NI's Alex Callaway, Seabed Mapping project lead, helps explain why https://t.co/zKgV5q49Dw.
@sustain321 But isn't it healthy that even if a system has allowed for for production something that match a pre-determined conclusion (in your view), it has also allowed in parallel for its correction to happen? (and also for a hugely useful debate to happen at the same time).
A good sign that science is healthy - big claims are scrutinised, criticised fairly and responded to with sensible arguments. It is clear is that there are huge uncertainty around carbon release from bottom fishing gears and more work is needed before attempting global estimates.
To celebrate #EarthDay 🌎, Cefas is pleased to announce the launch of its new International Centre for Ocean Protection and Use (iOPUS). iOPUS will use the latest #CefasScience to help develop #innovative solutions to protecting the world's oceans ▶️ https://t.co/qLZgEakVi6
On the way home from a super few days reviewing trawling impacts on sediment carbon. Thank you @MarijaSciberras @StaceyFelgate for organising and to a fab group for such interesting discussions
Complex, yet exciting discussions, nice food, visit of a great lab but more importantly catch up with good friends and making new ones. Recipe for a good workshop, thanks for the warm welcome @MarijaSciberras @micheljkaiser at the @LyellCentre 😃
We are pleased to announce our new Chief Scientist – Prof Grant. Stentiford.
With over 20 years’ of experience in marine science research and management, we’re confident that he will continue to build on our achievements.
