The 2023 #NobelPrize in Chemistry rewards the discovery and development of quantum dots, nanoparticles so tiny that their size determines their properties.
These particles have unique properties and now spread their light from television screens and LED lamps. They catalyse chemical reactions and their clear light can illuminate tumour tissue for a surgeon.
Researchers have primarily utilised quantum dots to create coloured light. They believe that in the future quantum dots can contribute to flexible electronics, miniscule sensors, slimmer solar cells and perhaps encrypted quantum communication.

Absolutely ecstatic to welcome the #CareerFIT @MSCActions researchers still in situ at @Entirl headquarters for a day packed with training, testimonials, peer learning and networking. If only a device existed to measure the combine brainpower in the room!
Thank you to the brilliant speakers and enthusiastic participants that attended the 1st #ML4NGPmeeting!
Your invaluable contributions in sharing advances and exploring future perspectives on #ML tools for #NGP research was truly remarkable! ๐

That's the biggest castle you can imagine up on the hillside behind us. We are standing on the Alte Brรผcke. What we can see is breathtaking but you'll have to take my word for it.
And it's a wrap! What an amazing two days getting to know these stellar #CareerFIT Fellows better. Wishing you all a safe journey home and a bright future ahead โจ๏ธ
Great to welcome a bunch of great scientists to #UCD for Machine Learning & Protein Structural Disorder #IDPfun#Elixir#Elixirireland#cecam#CAID meeting. I learnt a load at ML hackathon plus talks about Protein Language Models: they seem really cool, quasi -magical in fact...
