Conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia. Thickened epithelium (acanthosis); increased cellularity. Loss of normal maturation sequence; disorganization. Dysplasia begins in basal layers and extends toward surface. Noninvasive. Chronic inflammatory infiltrate may be present. 👁️
Synovial sarcoma of the foot:
Gross description: Tumor is well circumscribed and multinodular. Cut surface is grey, and soft. Myxoid change is present.
Synovial sarcoma is a malignant soft tissue tumor with multiple morphologies including monophasic spindle cell, biphasic, poorly differentiated, myxoid, ossifying and monophasic epithelial. The most characteristic positive stains are TLE1+, cytokeratin+, EMA+, BCL2+, CD99+.
A 45 year old man with uncontrolled diabetes and chronic sinusitis. Histology (paranasal sinuses): Broad pauciseptate ribbon-like hyphae of 5 - 15 microns in diameter, with irregular branching in 90° angles, invading a blood vessel, resulting in thrombus formation.
