Tragic News: Young Intern Doctor Dies on Duty at SKIMS, #Srinagar
In a deeply heartbreaking incident, an young intern doctor from SKIMS, just months away from beginning his post-graduation, lost his life after contracting an infection while serving patients on duty.
He stood on the frontline of care; working tirelessly, healing others while battling fatigue, risk, and constant exposure , until his own health gave way.
Doctors may not fight at the border with guns, but they wage silent battles every single day ,against pain, disease, and death ,often with little protection, recognition, or reward.
The most painful truth? This dedicated young doctor was paid a mere ₹12,000 per month -A shocking reflection of how undervalued our medical interns truly are.
Medical associations have now urged the state government to grant ex-gratia compensation under the Employees’
Compensation Act, honouring his sacrifice made in the line of duty.
