“Woodside’s claim was ‘not just alarming but certifiably insane.’”
That’s being too kind 🤬
- 1.6bt lifetime CO2 emissions is over 3 full years of Australia’s entire national emissions
- or one & a half AGLs (Australia’s largest emitter) every year! 😳 https://t.co/QYQB3xfNSg
Wait for it.
2022 has come in as hottest summer on record (joint with 2020) for the Northern Hemisphere and globally hottest June-July-August (joint with 2019).
“We can’t have any new coal and gas projects. The State of the Environment report was so clear climate change is affecting every ecosystem and it needs to be taken into account.”
@pocockdavid talking climate on @RNBreakfast as climate tops the agenda of parliament this week.
Price of offshore #windpower falls to cheapest ever level

Just devastating. The costs of climate change are already being borne by ordinary Hunter Valley residents and local governments, while the owners of the mines seek further and seemingly never ending expansions from State and Federal Govts that push these costs higher every year.

Police have closed (new) Windsor Bridge over the Hawkesbury River. For comparison, I have added a photo (in dry weather 2021) when the new bridge was under construction - beside the old bridge. https://t.co/DaC4s08zYe

Great piece about Australia’s energy crisis from

Another historic day of heat in Europe. I can't believe it is only the 19th of June. Unprecedented to witness this level of heat so early in the year.
Many June records broken by large margins. Some June national records equaled or broken.
Today we are announcing the biggest ever investment in renewable energy for NSW. An investment in our energy system to deliver lower bills and the most reliable & clean energy in the world https://t.co/PZxBA4zMup
A reminder that this energy crisis is a fossil fuel crisis. While power bills in NSW are skyrocketing, power bills in the ACT (which uses far more renewables) are falling. Renewable energy is the cheapest energy in the country.
Madeleine King really not reading the room post election. Resources Ministers have always cosied up to miners, but raising expectations that thermal coal exports will continue beyond 2050 is pretty tone deaf in a nation deeply worried about climate change
