@tii_bag You set a boundary 6 years ago, and she thought it came with a free pass. Walking away takes massive self-respect. Keep walking and don't look back.
@HarleyBrew@tylerloong Yeah that’s disingenuous as well. They want to play bc it’s fun as hell, a great social game, and at the highest level a grueling sport that requires many of the same skills and principles that tennis requires. You’re in the minority not wanting to play.
@tylerloong@HarleyBrew Right… take a look at the rankings and tell me how many played college/pro tennis. I believe your name would pop up if I’m not mistaken. It’s weird to claim being a pickleball purist when the majority of the paddle/racquet skill was developed playing tennis with no thought of pb
@tylerloong@HarleyBrew That’s the disingenuous argument the pickleball guys like to make. They pretend the vast majority of the top players dont have a tennis background
but its well documented most trained their entire lives developing skills for tennis, played college ball and didnt take it further
There's an underrated art to set punting in men's tennis.
Ruud punts the 4th set 6-0 to Safiullin and wins the 5th set 6-2.
Gaston punts the 4th set 6-2 to Monfils and wins the 5th set 6-0.
Sonego punts the 4th set 6-1 to Herbert and wins the 5th set 6-4.
Happens all the time
@briholaday@GAremeen@nishikoripicks Yea and no. Old rule allowed you to collect up to $10k a year for travel expenses playing low level prize money tournaments and still be considered “amateur.” Rinderknech, Kypson, Habib, Vacherot were all allowed to play futures, just not a full schedule.
