@jmalitrg I agree. Part of the justification of the remittance basis has always, to my mind, being that tax rules need to be enforceable to obtain acceptance. It ill tend to be more difficult to verify the accuracy of the tax returns of someone based overseas who comes to the UK ....

@gbturaco@nrporter48 I saw Sunac in action this morning. He has energy, enthusiasm and a grasp of detail. I think he is honest. He doesn't admit to planning to ditch some of the outrageous policies of the past few years but is in a different league from Johnson and less batty than Truss.
@PeterStefanovi2@susannareid100 I thought it a masterclass by Raab in defending the indefensible - by winding up the interviewer on whether "guilty" was an apprpriate term, he used up plenty of his time-slot avoiding the main issues.
