Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.
More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Camila Mendoza Olmos, 19, has been missing since the morning of Christmas Eve.
The sheriff’s office describes Camila as 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 110 pounds. She was wearing a baby blue hoodie with black details, baby blue pajama pants and white shoes when she left. She only had her car key and possibly her driver’s license on her — no cell phone.
Officials said the mother told authorities that Camila normally goes for a morning walk, but she became concerned when her daughter did not return within a reasonable period of time.
Anyone with information regarding Camila’s whereabouts is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at (210) 335-6000 or contact the Missing Persons Unit at [email protected].

Sweet Home Alabama! It’s been a long day of traveling . I left Hawaii last night after doing my lawn in the afternoon , flew into Orlando this morning, and made the 10-hour drive back home. There’s no place like home!
Dear @GovernorKayIvey , along with mowing at the White House & Arlington National Cemetery , it would be an honor to mow at our state capital in Montgomery and have the pleasure of meeting you as well. If this is possible one day , please let me know. I’m based up the road in Huntsville and can make the 3-hour drive down anytime.
Wow! I just got off the phone with the amazing team at Steak ’n Shake. They told me they love what we’ve been doing and are mailing me $3,000 worth of gift cards to give away to veterans and others in need. I’m speechless — thank you all so much!
They also shared that they’ve let all their locations know that if I stop by, the meal’s on them. What an incredible gesture. Thank you, Steak ’n Shake, for believing in our mission and helping us make a difference one lawn — and one act of kindness — at a time. ❤️🇺🇸 @SteaknShake
Dear @WhiteHouse
After traveling over 17,000+ mowing for veterans and active-duty service members across all 50 states, this year’s journey has come to an end. 🇺🇸
If ever given the chance to mow at Arlington National Cemetery or even at The White House with my USA mower, I would drop everything and head there in a heartbeat.
It would be one of the greatest honors of my life . Thank you for your consideration.
With my Current Heart Health situation it may be my last Bama Game in Tuscaloosa for a while, I’m pumped to be here!
Alabama feels more like Home to me than anywhere else on Earth.
Grateful every time I get to be back here!
If you’re in town for the Game come find me!
