NJ finally making full pension payments after 25 years of skipped contributions is a real improvement. That’s not the flex you think it is next to Florida.
Florida: AAA from every major agency. ~$18B in reserves. Rainy day fund maxed. No state income tax. Fourth straight year of a smaller budget. Paid down roughly half its accumulated tax-supported debt. Pensions already well-funded.
New Jersey: mid-tier ratings (A+/Aa3), still running a ~$1.5B structural deficit, drawing down a surplus that peaked years ago, budget up from ~$35B to $59B, and some of the highest income and property taxes in the country.
Murphy inherited a mess and started catching up on pensions. DeSantis inherited a strong fiscal position and made it stronger while cutting taxes and shrinking the budget. “Rather than paying dividends” is a nice line when your state already extracts more from residents every year.
Different starting points. Different tax bases. Different results. The scoreboard isn’t close.
Women entering the workforce has completely destroyed quality of life for Americans
1. Two incomes became the new one income.
Once everyone had to work, employers and banks raised prices. Houses doubled. Families didn’t get ahead. They just ran harder to stay in place.
2. Kids got raised by institutions instead of parents.
Daycare replaces bonding. Schools replace values. Screens replace discipline. Then everyone wonders why kids are anxious and disconnected.
3. Communities disappeared.
If both parents work all day, nobody is home. No neighborhood stability. No local support. Just isolated families worn out from the grind.
4. Stress shot through the roof.
Two commutes, two schedules, no downtime, constant rushing. Marriages crack under nonstop exhaustion.
5. Divorce became the easy option.
Two incomes make it simple to leave instead of fix problems. The family foundation got weaker.
6. Birthrates collapsed.
If both parents are working 50 hours a week, having more than one or two kids is almost impossible. Entire generations are shrinking.
7. Government filled the void.
When no one is home, institutions step in. Schools. Daycare. After school programs. Healthcare systems. Government support. Weak homes create more state dependence.
8. Men lost purpose.
A man’s historical role to build, protect, and provide got diluted. Many men checked out. Society suffers when men have nothing to fight for.
9. Women were sold a false dream.
They were told a career and a boss would make them happier than raising their children or building a family. Now we have record levels of burnout, depression, and regret.
10. Families turned into roommates.
Everyone works. Everyone is tired. No one has energy for each other. The home stopped being a team and became a collection of exhausted individuals.
A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson's Fox show to talk about God knows what. Afterwards a name I barely knew sent me a DM on twitter and told me I did a great job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today.
Charlie was fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and change his mind. Like me, he was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016. Like me, he came to see President Trump as the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives. When others were right, he learned from them. When he was right--as he usually was--he was generous. With Charlie, the attitude was never, "I told you so." But: "welcome."
Charlie was one of the first people I called when I thought about running for senate in early 2021. I was interested but skeptical there was a pathway. We talked through everything, from the strategy to the fundraising to the grassroots of the movement he knew so well. He introduced me to some of the people who would run my campaign and also to Donald Trump Jr. "Like his dad, he's misunderstood. He's extremely smart, and very much on our wavelength." Don took a call from me because Charlie asked him too.
Long before I ever committed (even in my mind) to running, Charlie had me speak to his donors at a TPUSA event. He walked me around the room and introduced me. He gave me honest feedback on my remarks. He had no reason to do this, no expectation that I'd go anywhere. I was polling, at that point, well below 5 percent. He did it because we were friends, and because he was a good man.
When I became the VP nominee--something Charlie advocated for both in public and private--Charlie was there for me. I was so glad to be part of the president's team, but candidly surprised by the effect it had on our family. Our kids, especially our oldest, struggled with the attention and the constant presence of the protective detail. I felt this acute sense of guilt, that I had conscripted my kids into this life without getting their permission. And Charlie was constantly calling and texting, checking on our family and offering guidance and prayers. Some of our most successful events were organized not by the campaign, but by TPUSA. He wasn't just a thinker, he was a doer, turning big ideas into bigger events with thousands of activists. And after every event, he would give me a big hug, tell me he was praying for me, and ask me what he could do. "You focus on Wisconsin," he'd tell me. "Arizona is in the bag." And it was.
Charlie genuinely believed in and loved Jesus Christ. He had a profound faith. We used to argue about Catholicism and Protestantism and who was right about minor doctrinal questions. Because he loved God, he wanted to understand him.
Someone else pointed out that Charlie died doing what he loved: discussing ideas. He would go into these hostile crowds and answer their questions. If it was a friendly crowd, and a progressive asked a question to jeers from the audience, he'd encourage his fans to calm down and let everyone speak. He exemplified a foundational virtue of our Republic: the willingness to speak openly and debate ideas.
Charlie had an uncanny ability to know when to push the envelope and when to be more conventional. I've seen people attack him for years for being wrong on this or that issue publicly, never realizing that privately he was working to broaden the scope of acceptable debate.
He was a great family man. I was talking to President Trump in the Oval Office today, and he said, "I know he was a very good friend of yours." I nodded silently, and President Trump observed that Charlie really loved his family. The president was right. Charlie was so proud of Erika and the two kids. He was so happy to be a father. And he felt such gratitude for having found a woman of God with whom he could build a family.
Charlie Kirk was a true friend. The kind of guy you could say something to and know it would always stay with him. I am on more than a few group chats with Charlie and people he introduced me to over the years. We celebrate weddings and babies, bust each other's chops, and mourn the loss of loved ones. We talk about politics and policy and sports and life. These group chats include people at the very highest level of our government. They trusted him, loved him, and knew he'd always have their backs. And because he was a true friend ,you could instinctively trust the people Charlie introduced you to. So much of the success we've had in this administration traces directly to Charlie's ability to organize and convene. He didn't just help us win in 2024, he helped us staff the entire government.
I was in a meeting in the West Wing when those group chats started lighting up with people telling Charlie they were praying for him. And that's how I learned the news that my friend had been shot. I prayed a lot over the next hour, as first good news and then bad trickled in.
God didn't answer those prayers, and that's OK. He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in heaven, I'll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly.
You ran a good race, my friend.
We've got it from here.
"When you tear out a man's tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you're only telling the world that you fear what he might say".
My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk's family.
Cracker Barrel is in denial. Apparently, anyone who disagrees with them is in the minority.
It is convenient for the company to blame the logo and the historical decor for its woes rather than address its underlying problems — service, portion size, product quality, and price.
The CEO talks about the great “buzz” generated by changing the decor, but she cannot point to improving results. Until she is replaced, a great American brand will continue to decline.
Save Cracker Barrel!
Andrew Hawkins made so much sense here. Good segment on The Dolphins offense. Watch till the end for a crazy truth bomb about Miami. Haters be warned, you won't like this. 😂😂😂
The individual was lawfully detained after lying to federal officers about carrying substances into the country.
A subsequent K9 inspection uncovered undeclared petri dishes, containers of unknown substances, and loose vials of embryonic frog cells, all without proper permits.
Messages found on her phone revealed she planned to smuggle the materials through customs without declaring them.
She knowingly broke the law and took deliberate steps to evade it.
Any member of Congress who purchased stocks in the last 48 hours should probably disclose that now.
I’ve been hearing some interesting chatter on the floor.
Disclosure deadline is May 15th. We’re about to learn a few things.
It’s time to ban insider trading in Congress.
🚨URGENT: PAUL AND CHRISTY AKEO BEING HELD CAPTIVE IN MEXICO🚨
STATEMENT from their daughter:
On March 4th, 2025, my stepdad and mom, Paul and Christy Akeo were imprisoned in Cancun, Mexico and are now being held without bail in a maximum-security Mexican prison. The last 21 days of being held captive is a direct result of my parents simply challenging wrongful credit card charges made by The Palace Company, aka Palace Resorts with American Express. American Express sided with my mom and Paul as a response to these wrongful charges. The last 21 days of torture my parents have been through is a direct response of The Palace Company’s corruption, extortion, retaliation and blackmail against our parents.
The Palace Company is demanding $250,000, the signing of an NDA that does not even guarantee their release, as well as a Facebook post made by our parents to be left up for 1 week claiming all responsibility and fault for the torture they have endured throughout the last 3 weeks. If that’s not enough, they also demanded a public apology from my mom and Paul to be made to The Palace Company. Absolutely sickening.
Despite what the completely false news articles posted in Mexico say, aiming to defame and slander our parents, we have all proof necessary to show these articles are written off of lies. With no mention of Palace Resorts at all in any article.
My mom and Paul are being denied medical attention, denied proper communication and publicly defamed. They have been held captive in prison for 21 days and despite asking numerous times to speak to Paul, we have yet to have ANY communication with him. My mom has lost 25 lbs. in 20 days due to inability to eat as the prison is serving her food they are aware she is allergic to. She also has a severe rash all over her body they refuse to treat. These are all concerns that have been brought up numerous times to the US Consulate over the last 3 weeks, yet they failed to have any sort of visit with my parents until 17 DAYS into their imprisonment. In other words, the US Consulate and the US Embassy have been nothing short of useless.
We have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars towards Mexican legal representation, but unfortunately that only goes so far when dealing with this level of corruption and extortion. We have also met prior demands given to us by The Palace Company and yet they have had no serious response to letting our parents free.
This includes forcing my brother and I to remove a private Facebook Group of 8,000 members who came together as a community to share grievances and receive advice on how to deal with the strong hold tactics and manipulation that Palace Resorts enforces. By forcing us to remove this group, which we did not own or create, they silenced thousands of Palace Resorts members who were simply sharing their truth of how awful and actually harmful it is to be a Palace Resort Member.
We have contacted numerous local and national government representation including but not limited to:
· US Embassy & US Consulate
· FBI, US Department of State & US Senate
· Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Office
· US Senator Gary Peters & Senator Elissa Slotkin
· Michigan State Police

‼️Please let it be known - Paul is a US Navy Chief Petty Officer and served our country for 21 years. The lack of action from our own government officials to help an innocent veteran who proudly served our country is UNACCEPTABLE‼️
PLEASE help us SPREAD THE WORD—SHARE THIS POST, TAG MEDIA OUTLETS AND TAG OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND REPRESENTATIVES!
If you know our parents at all, you know they are undeserving of this. My family is asking for EVERYONE to step in and PLEASE….HELP US GET THEM HOME.
