Why do I like Twitter and why do I think it should be open?
Twitter (X) is where I learn. Payments, engineering, AI, stablecoin - some of the best free thinking is here, in public, for free. Instagram entertains me. X teaches me. I’d rather learn.
Closing it costs our tech community in Tanzania and developers more than people realise.
We need to support the tech community in Tanzania otherwise we will be behind.
Aliko Dangote started a telecommunication company and failed.
He also started a textile company and failed terribly.
He started a Dangote Airlines and failed a few months later.
He then started a tomato sauce factory that also failed after a few months of operation.
Aliko Dangote this time started Dangote Millers which he failed to maintain and ended up selling it to South African company for $200m before buying it back at half the price he sold it.
This time Dangote started Dangote cement which became his first successful business. Sugar business followed and so did oil refinery.
Failing doesn't mean you won't succeed, it means you're learning.
Haissem Hassan is a player of great potential and ability, and in my opinion, he deserves to be competing at a higher level than the Spanish Second Division. His talent, skill, and performances suggest that he has the qualities to succeed on a bigger stage.
Dangote Has Chosen Kenya for a 700,000-Barrel Refinery. Tanzania Lost the Bid. The Question Worth Asking Is Why.
Dangote chose Kenya over Tanzania for a USD 15 to 17 billion, 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery because investors optimise complete supply chain systems, not individual assets. Kenya's port depth, pipeline network, and larger fuel market created agglomeration advantages Tanzania's upstream position could not overcome.
Tanzania's challenge is not finding the next Dangote. It is closing the gap between owning strategic assets and offering the integrated platform that converts those assets into investment.
