#OnThisDay in 1936, the muon (µ) was discovered as a constituent of cosmic-ray particle “showers” by the physicists Carl Anderson and Seth Neddermeyer. Decades later, #muons play a vital role in CERN’s #physics research.

The CMS muon subsystems are collaborating for the detection of muons during the first collisions of the LHC Run-3, just like the crew worked hard together in the preparation for it!
The red line represents a muon detected by the CSC and the new GEM (GE1/1) in the CMS Muon Endcaps
For a long time we've been told that LS2 in CMS was "about muons". Well, today LS2 is officially history, and a new era in LHC starts. A happy and thrilled muon team wishes all our @CMSExperiment and other #LHC colleagues many years of exciting physics!! GO RUN 3!!
Next week is a special week for CERN… do you know what we have planned? #Higgs10#LHCRun3

Great article on how cosmic rays and tests of the Large Hadron Collider are used to get @CMSExperiment ready for the LHC run starting 2022. I find this test collision most amazing, it includes recently installed @CmsMuon GEM test detectors (green) 🤯🤩 https://t.co/cDrDwrNbu9
Today the CMS Collaboration joins the celebration of the 4th #LGBTQSTEMDay with https://t.co/bKFyfqu6kA .
We recognize the value of diversity & inclusion, and the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in all aspects of life, including science.
Happy November 18th!🌈

... readiness of GE1/1 and the CSC-GE1/1 trigger, DT slice test and more! It is a good occasion to engage students and newcomers from our institutions in detector activities. We need to be ready; it is an amazing adventure to live directly P5 Control Room. Join the team! :D
Let's talk about #muons!
The @CMSExperiment muon community will convene for 2 days starting tomorrow to prepare for #LHC Run3 data taking, starting in 2022.
