@CapTweed@GerHerbert1 is correct about the grants. Dealers will increase the RRP much like retro fit and solar contractors did so you end up paying the same regardless. The EV costs will come down without grants but the infrastructure needs to be enhanced for confidence.
@MichealLehane@griptmedia €5k off a €70k car…. which the dealers will l add on top of the current rrp much like all the retro fit and solar contractors did when those grants were announced
@Nick_Delehanty Allegedly they don’t insulate the entire house. Contractor assessment dictates selected works THEY decide are necessary. I seen one complaint after they outer insulated top 1/2 of a house. Beaded some of the lower but not a bay window area, attic & left old drafty windows & doors
@BTriagain Even with married couple, no dependents on €29k each gives approx €3900 after tax per month with a rent bill between €2.5 & €3:5k for a 2 bed you before food, utilities, cars, bikes, insurances not to mention a life .. so yeah, “subsidy city”living beckons !

Looking forward to the Irish Government’s response to this in the context of “the law”.
“Do as I say, not as I do”
@LPerrins Orson Welles famously viewed politicians primarily as actors, stating they are not necessarily "natural crooks" but performers who belong to a "third sex". He believed politics is a form of acting that should ideally reflect a culture's commonly held ideals rather than just lying
@DarraghOBrienTD@NewstalkFM Should be controls on pump prices to restrict gouging- large fines should be imposed on those who increase prices daily for the sake of it
@muldoons_@TomOHanlon17 Was it previously reported that a Dublin FG councillor who was or is a bus driver allegedly got HAP for an apartment while he lives or lived with a sitting g FG minister of state .??
Quick Maths
Irish Govt to cut excise duty by 25%.
Current Pump price: €2.33/L
Current Excise: €0.43
25% cut = ~€0.11
New Excise = €0.32
VAT (23%) also falls → ~€0.025 saving
Total drop ≈ €0.135
New price ≈ €2.20/L
😬😬😬😬
This alone is not close to enough.
