🚨Matt Chapman: Soft Hands
• Soft hands
• Loose wrist
• Change the balls direction
⭐️ Put the ball in front of your glove and allow the ball to make your glove fold around it
Hitters….free advice coming. The most important part of ur body, while hitting, are your eyes! If u keep ur eyes as still as possible, ur chances of correct pitch recognition, go way up. How do we do that? Ur base!!! As solid as possible. If u limit lower body movement, eyes won’t move as much. Lotta lower body movement, more chance of eyes bouncing. Also, and this ties in with the eyes…..best piece of advice I ever got was from Willie Stargell….he said ‘fast feet promote slow hands, slow feet promote quick hands’. Slow feet in the stride, promote minimal eye movement and quick hands. Boom….let it eat!!!

DON'T be the teammate that:
• Blames the umpires
• Blames the field conditions
• Blames his teammates
• Shows poor body language
ALWAYS be the teammate that:
• Hustles
• Has energy
• Holds himself accountable
• Has his teammates back 💯
Did you know that you can bring people into a lab, test their vision, and find that people dressed up as and pretending to be Air Force pilots will suddenly have better vision?
Simply imagining you’re a pilot LITERALLY improves your vision.
The power of ‘priming’ our minds is real, which is exactly why I had each player on our team pick an animal that represents them at their best. An animal that when they ‘become it’, they right away feel more powerful, positive and confident. (think Kobe Bryant being the ‘Black Mamba’)
This sign hangs in our dugout so that they are reminded to ‘flip the switch’ into their best self during competition, especially when they feel any negativity and self-doubt creeping in.
Sure they may only be 8 years old, but the power of having an alter-ego translates to ALL ages and ALL walks of life.
As Todd Herman says in his great book ‘The Alter Ego Effect’, “Your Alter Ego is really about defining how you want to show up, defining the Superpowers, and borrowing the characteristics of an existing person, character, superhero, animal, or whatever to help Activate your Heroic Self.”
How about you…is today a good day to come up with your very own alter-ego to help you go NEXT LEVEL?

Wearing safety belts increases your odds of survival by 50-80%
We have data that shows an increase of 480% of not having a UCL surgery in baseball players if you can deadlift 2x bw, reverse lunge 1.5x bw, & 13 chin-ups.
We can’t stop these injuries but we can impact the odds.
Showcase events: I advise hitters to try to knock over the L screen 1st round
HARD MIDDLE (confirmed from D1 coaches = immediate interest)
Everyone is trying to bomb it, be different
Thinking hard middle gets you locked in for later rounds to drive it
Be different. Be better
