Jacob Blake’s sister: ‘I’m not sad. I’m not sorry. I’m angry. And I’m tired. I haven’t cried one time. I stopped crying years ago. I am numb. I have been watching police murder people that look like me for years.’ (warning: distressing)
On the passing of Rick Adelman, whose coaching secret took him to the Hall of Fame: “NBA coaching is about dealing with people.” (Story is free to read) https://t.co/6gyECtcFid
The membership of the National Basketball Coaches Association joins the NBA family in mourning the passing of legendary Head Coach and Hall of Famer, Rick Adelman.
Rick Adelman coached in the NBA for 29 years, serving as a Head Coach for 23 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves. Over his coaching career, Rick won 1,042 games (10th all-time), was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021 and received the NBCA Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. Coach Adelman also enjoyed an eight-year NBA playing career with the San Diego Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Jazz, and Kansas City-Omaha Kings.
Adelman will be remembered not only as a coach and a player, but also as a mentor to so many in the basketball community. Rick was a husband to Mary Kay for 56 years; father to Kathy, RJ, Laura, David, Caitlin, and Patrick; and a grandfather of twelve. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Adelman family during this difficult time.
Grateful to wake up to a beautiful Oregon morning hitting 50.
Spent my last night in my 40’s with @RobSmaller in the gym with JunSeok Yeo… wouldn’t have had it any other way.

"I want to give a shoutout to Jeremy Lin - he had me at Modell's going crazy trying to find his jersey" 😭
KAT shouts out Jeremy Lin and the impact he had on his own Knicks fandom
Appreciate the mention in The New York Times.
Dusty May referencing Coach Maor on Slappin’ Glass when he was with the NZ Breakers, and a detail on screening angles stuck with him.
A cool reminder of how far good coaching ideas can travel.

On two separate occasions I took our Lake Oswego team down to visit the UCLA campus and see the @kevinlove athletic perfomance center ... Doug went above & beyond to make a group of HS kids feel like they were getting a first class treatment. Inspiring servant leader.
Congratulations to UCLA men’s basketball operations director 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐠 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧 on earning the Wooden Award for Distinguished Service.
This honor is bestowed to distinguished employees each school year. Erickson has served UCLA’s program for 34 seasons.
