@danpdxfan To my knowledge no, but a 2 game gap can make a huge difference. In football before the IMC schools played on Saturday this week, the MWC teams had 2 more games of results and were 1-2-3 in the rankings after all recording blowouts over bad teams the night before.
OSAA rules I'd change if they put me in charge:
1.) Endowment games no longer count in the rankings - I think the the rankings love more data, and having an extra game can give you an edge....particularly in a sport like soccer with only 14 games of data to analyze. (cont.)
@danpdxfan I'm convinced this cost my son's team a home game in 2023, when they had a game cancelled due to air quality. No endowment game meant WAHS played 13 games, while HRVHS played 15 with an endowment. Look at how thin the margin was between them in the rankings.
2. Not counting "play in games" as postseason. If endowment games are going to be a thing, you've just eliminated them from any classification with a play in round. Can't say you're slimming down state tourneys and then have play in rounds, it makes no sense.
3.) Guaranteed home games for league champs - makes sense on paper, but at 5A where only 16 teams make playoffs and there's 6 leagues, Dallas, ranked 4th behind 2 non league champs, would have to go on the road as the 9 in Round 1 and get top seed Silverton in the QF. (cont)

Friday Night Lights time, as West Albany (5-2) hosts Lebanon (4-4).
Last game of the regular season for the Warriors, as they have their bye next week.
@_yungjordi Never even heard of SP+, but it sounds kind of like it’s based at least in part on the transitive thing. If you beat a team by more, that’s a bigger boost.
Beavs can't control who they play anymore, but
Beat CSU by 30. BYU beat them by 18
Beat WSU by 18. Arizona beat them by 10.
Beat SDSU by 52. UCLA beat them by 18.
I think OSU has given plenty of reasons for consideration for ranking.
Let's see....
No ranked wins. ✅
Lost both of their P4 games by double digits ✅
69th ranked Strength of schedule ✅
49th in FPI ✅
39th in SP+ ✅
Their wins are over opponents with a combined 12 and 23 record ✅
Better question is - why should they be ranked?
@Gimmy_The_Great@rovertdob1986 Oh my god man nobody said elite. at least not me. I didn’t even say OSU should be ranked. I just said there’s justification for considering them. But apparently that is too much bragging for Duck fans to stomach. Sorry it’s so triggering.
@Gimmy_The_Great@rovertdob1986 Not what I’m saying at all. But would it be weird to say Oregon has no business being ranked at all when they can play a similar opponent (or multiple similar opponents) in a manner consistent with a consensus top 5 team? Of course not.
@rovertdob1986@Beavr_Fever Alright well it rained sure. I don’t remember it being 2001 civil war wet but in any event both teams played in the same weather so it’s not like it hurt Oregon more than Wisconsin
Second in our series with my friend Jed Tai, takes us to Lebanon Oregon this coming Sunday.
Springfield was an awesome host. Can’t wait to get to see some of the best players in the Mid Willamette region of our state!

Maybe I should clarify. I'm not mad OSU isn't ranked. Honestly this will all work itself out when OSU plays Boise State (possibly twice) in November.
I just don't think it's ridiculous that to consider ranking them given the way they've decimated the teams they're supposed to
