Average young athlete: “I can’t lift in-season, it’ll make me sore & I’ll get hurt.”
Dominant college pitcher who lifted the DAY OF his World Series start
You can & should lift in-season too
I can't call plays off a sheet.
I'm too busy watching the overhang.
Tracking the safety.
Finding the extra hat.
By the time I look down, the moment's gone.
So we must be simple enough to know the answer immediately.
Truth most offensive coaches don’t want to hear:
Your offense doesn’t fail because you lack plays.
It fails because you never chose one play to build around.
Here’s a simple 3-step test to find your North Star play:
1. You can run it vs any front.
2. You can rep it every day without changing rules.
3. Everything else in your offense can grow off it.
If a single play can't sustain your offense, no playbook ever will.
Dear God,
As I begin this new year of coaching, please help me to never forget the power of the platform you have blessed me with, help me to build champions both on (AND OFF), the field, & most importantly, help me to lead by example in ALL I do!
Love,
Coach
Here are Dan McDonnell's comments regarding his faith, how he has been tested, and how he has prevailed by reading scripture.
Shoutout to @UofLSheriff50 for asking a great question and to Coach for an incredible response. (@JonnyRoot_ I think you will like this one). #Louisville #GoCards
Every coach knows the feeling, offseason discipline is a lonely job. Holding the standard year-round wears on you and them. But we don’t do it to be liked. We do it because we care. Complacency kills potential. And real love never lets athletes settle.

Men,
Regardless of whatever "title" you may hold outside of the home, if you're a father, your GREATEST role is found WITHIN the walls of your own home!
