Amazing advice from Nick Saban on how to improve.
What’s your goal? Define what it takes to accomplish your goal. Then you have to make the decision are you willing to do that? Do you have enough discipline to make yourself do it everyday whether you feel like it or not?
Final score: 46-37, Mid Valley win. Congratulations to the Mid Valley Spartans!

Jay Bilas - referencing coaching high school:
"If you value teaching, coaching, competing, having great relationships with players...I don't believe it matters where you do it. Some of the best coaches in the world coach high school basketball."
“The next play is going to be the play that truly defines me, not the play that just occurred.” @RealJayWilliams
Adversity is not a choice (you will face it), but adversity is a challenge. Focus on your next action, not your reaction.
Your body language toward missed shots, teammates’ mistakes, being whistled for fouls, getting your butt kicked on a play, being subbed out of the game, how you lose & handle any adversity tells coaches all they need to know. What’s your body language saying about your maturity?!
You can’t rely on your practices, open gyms or AAU games to replace your skills training. Practices are focused on team concepts, but you can only play games at the skill level you have. As a player, your individual development has to be a commitment that you are accountable for!
"I never seen a team win a championship with zero talent.
However, I have seen a lot of really talented teams never win a championship.
Why? Because you have a bunch of individuals - not playing for each other - not connected.
Connected teams are powerful teams." @SteveJonesSPK
2 types of coaches:
Those who:
Coddle
Tell you what you want to hear
Don’t hold you accountable
Don't believe in you
Let you go through the motions
Those who:
Tell you the truth
Encourage
Challenge
Hold you accountable
Inspire
Demand excellence
ONLY 1 gets you ready for LIFE!
You can choose how to spend your off season. You can choose to chill or you can choose to work & improve, but when the popcorn is popping & the seats are filled, we will know what you did all summer by what you do next season. The part timers get exposed under the bright lights!!
