USA baseball needed the travel ball dad - he knows all the scenarios, has mapped them out extensively and told everyone who will listen (and those that will ignore him). He may be annoying, but he knows the tiebreaker rules, scenarios win or lose and who and when they will play next - in every scenario possible. He would have told DeRosa and every manager. Travel ball dads for the win!
Anthony Rizzo has announced his retirement after 14 seasons with the Cubs, Yankees and Padres.
Rizzo was a 4-time Gold Glove Award winner (2016, 2018-2020) and won Platinum Glove honors in 2016. He was also a 3-time All-Star (2014-2016) and won a Silver Slugger Award in 2016. In 2017, Rizzo was bestowed with the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award.
And, of course, he was an integral part of the @Cubs 2016 #WorldSeries championship team.

You put me on a track man screen at a golf course and I will have some of the craziest metrics you’ll ever see. Tour level stuff. But, I am not a great golfer. The key is getting the ball in the hole scrambling and finding a way. This is exactly compares to so many I see now in baseball. At show cases or metrically they measure off the charts. Sometimes that correlates. But the question is… can you play the game? Can you actually hit or pitch or are you just chasing numbers. The numbers are fine and useful. But you still have to play the game. You still have to be a gamer. There is a difference, believe me.
This dog's name was Gunner. My uncle brought him back from WW2. He was raised and slept under my uncle's anti- aircraft gun. The gun crew shared their
rations to feed him. By the time he was 18 months old, my uncle said he would stand up and look at the sky. If he laid back down they knew all was ok. If he growled
and put his hackles up they got at the ready. He knew the sound of the German aircraft and my uncle said he
never got it wrong. He said Gunner was better than any early warning system. I'm probably the only one left in the family that knows that story now, so I thought I'd tell it before it's lost forever, like many stories must be from that time. Thanks for reading it.
