If I’m Wembanyama, I’m making one call, with one question. The call is to Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The question is “can you teach me the sky hook?” It would be impossible to block.
Mike Brown was fired from the Kings less than a year and a half ago.
He was also fired by the Cavaliers, who he just swept, TWO SEPARATE TIMES in his career.
Today, he’s leading the Knicks to their first NBA Finals in 27 years.
@CoachHackGO That’s an Iowa thing taught on the HS level.
I played Juco at Marshalltown CC (89-91) and that’s how my HOF Coach Mike Marquis taught us how to throw the lob . Greg McDermott is from Iowa. Better accuracy when passed that way!
@Tyroneshelton@jasonwhitlock EXACTLY! I’ve never seen or heard a NBA player comment on their HC’s wife and how attractive she is. Straight or gay it’s not appropriate especially for a rookie.
A bit Too comfortable ..
Always hold the standard. You must rise to the standard, and call others to rise to it as well. The standard never changes. How you do anything is how you do everything. You get what you allow. The little things matter, and you must realize & get others to understand that everything matters.
Lead by example.
Hold others accountable to the standard.
Leave things better than you found them.

Doubt will always creep in. It’s human nature. You can’t completely stop doubt from happening, but you can choose whether you listen to it or not.
Realize that action is better than giving into your doubts. You either succeed or you learn. When you give into your doubts and refuse to act, you miss out on the great opportunities and lessons that could happen. You must be intentional about talking to yourself. Speak positively to yourself and instill the belief and confidence in yourself.
Refuse to give into your doubts. Choose to act. Be willing to take the opportunity or lesson. You’ll thank yourself later.
“Our culture is just…RELENTLESS. We really live that. That’s not like a band on our wrist or some crap on a wall. We’re pushing it hard, we’re getting after it. The standards of how hard we’re going to play, how competitive we’re going to be and be about winning,”Dan Hurley
Winners aren’t afraid to do what winning requires.
Winning teams understand that confrontation is not dysfunction when it protects the standard.
It is commitment.
It is care.
It is leadership.
The difference between average and winning is this:
average lets the little things slide.
Winning confronts them.
Virginia at Iowa today. Two critical flagrant 1 calls by officials down the stretch to put Iowa at the line for 2 FT’s to force double OT! Both plays INCIDENTAL in my opinion.
VA HC maintained her composure despite the calls! Virginia wins 83-75 on to Sweet 16! #ncaawbb
“I don’t want you to like me today…..I want you to love me in a couple years.”
Coaches would rather push you today than apologize for not preparing you for tomorrow.
Great leaders don’t lower the standard; they raise the person.
