Every HS kid I ask “wants to play” in college.
But so many don’t want: 20 hours of practice/weights 20 hours of class/study hall 0 hours of “social life” Some weeks: 6-7 days a week.
6am starts.
10pm ends.
Sooo...Do you REALLY want it?
Recruiting doesn’t start senior year.
It starts with your habits.
Grades. Effort. Body language. Accountability.
Coaches are always evaluating.
You’re either building your résumé or hurting it daily.

Do a better job of using social media to your recruiting advantage. Too many college coaches are on social media, and you need to be seen. Head coaches and assistants are active and use these platforms to find recruits including your schedule, highlight film, and contact information. If your page isn’t updated because you barely get on, you’re missing real opportunities.
Here are some helpful tips to consider:
Coaches don't just ask your head coach about you.
They ask the locker room.
Your teammates know who works, who leads, who complains, and who quits when things get hard.
Be the guy the locker room vouches for.
That reputation travels further than any highlight clip.
Parents and Recruits need to understand that many programs are focused only on transfer portal players.... Every program will not be for you. Some of them use high school recruits to keep motion during camp season. College camps bring in a lot of money. Money that is used to offset GA expenses and other cost. Start asking coaches how many high school players they are taking. Start being specific and intentional about where you visit. Make absolute sure that you have traction before you ask your parents to invest in flight tickets, hotels and car rentals. Try to stick to programs in driving distance if possible. Make sure a coach or recruiting person has watched and evaluated your film before you take a trip.
Recruits: Your HS coach and future College coach definitely have favorites.
Their favorites are guys that show up on time, stay out of trouble, get good grades, work hard, are good teammates, know their playbook, do their job, & make the plays they are supposed to.
Had a great time in Fresno competing! Can’t wait to finish this offseason strong. Check out a few of my clips from the weekend.
